Take me to the station and put me on a train.
I've got no expectations to pass through here again.

The Allman Brothers Band - Melissa
(Eat A Peach, 1972)
Some tibits about this song: The first time this was ever performed was at Duane Allman’s funeral on November 1st, 1971. Gregg Allman preformed it because it was Duane’s favorite song his brother had written. Gregg actually wrote this song in 1965 but never did anything with it because he didn’t like it. It was recorded and released it on the album Eat A Peach in rememberance of Duane.

“I don’t want you to go… I don’t want you to write a song on my bed, cause every time I lie in it I’m gonna hear that goddamn song, and you’re gonna be out there, running around, not even remembering this day that I can’t even forget.”

“Are all American bands metro-sexual now? I heard the title Vampire Weekend and I thought, ‘Oh, man, that’s gonna be great. I gotta see it. And there are these guys with little Gap T-shirts on and I’m going, ‘What happened to the balls in rock ‘n’ roll? Why are American bands so wimpy?’”
