Information Architect / User Engagement Consultant / Reading Room
At Reading Room I was able to grow and develop strong relationships. I was a primary source of relevant information to my peers and clients, whilst also offering consultancy over accessibility issues.
I worked closely with planners and creative team members to develop coherent digital strategies across all device platforms. I've also been a regular member of pitch teams where I've informed on trends and shared insights; often developing ideas into presentable materials. I used a variety of skills and tools - dependent upon the situation I was designing for - and combined research to validate theories and trends in user behaviour, to develop strategic improvements.

Front-end Web Developer (Consultant/Contractor) / Department for Constitutional Affairs (DCA) - (Now Ministry of Justice)
I was contracted to provide expert advice and guidance on the production of 19 websites and a new corporate intranet for the Tribunals Service, a new agency of the DCA which was launched in April 2006. My role was to work with an in-house web team where it was necessary to adhere to Government accessibility and WCAG 1.0 “AAA” Guidelines. I lead the compliance checking for every site that was produced; this included the compliance to Strict XHTML and CSS as well as resolving usability issues.
This was as much of a consultant role as it was a practical assignment and I re-wrote all the mark-up in the templates. I was responsible for training staff to code in a disciplined fashion and helping them to understand the benefits of doing so.

Global Web Development & Technical Specialist (Consultant/Contractor) / Pfizer
At Pfizer I was contracted to work in two departments, the global clinical strategy procedures group and the European clinical strategy implementation group.
I provided consultancy and worked with the senior leadership team in the U.S, to improve the usability and reach of the global procedures on the corporate intranet. Much of this work included manipulating data into customer focused interfaces, collapsing inappropriate layers of navigation and improving user journeys.I also provided my team customised ways to share information dynamically, an example was building a project status report tool to surface ‘live’ documents. A highlight of my career at Pfizer was my responsibility for the integration of the newly acquired company, Pharmacia’s documentation to Pfizer; migrating their procedures into our repository, taxonomy, cataloguing and applying meta-data for 500 procedure documents in one week.
During my time in this role I won an Impact Award for innovative ways of presenting information for distribution of electronic data.
