Yes! Spooky kids replanted in the 21st Century from a creepy 60’s film.

I did the jacket for this book by Allan Wolf that came out last week. It’s about the Titanic, and the people who were on it.

A composite picture showing a scene I created in After Effects. This is for an animation project I am working on about freshwater environments.
Beautiful technique here from Raphaëlle et Quentin - two young directors living in Paris. Fantastic composition and use of negative space employing simple, semi transparent coloured shapes.

Here’s a still from an animation I am working on for an exciting commission. Still early days in the project but I’m enjoying this.
I’ve watched this short film by Impactist so many times over the past 2 years. Not only did Kelly & Daniel create the animation, but they also composed the tremulous, haunting soundtrack.
Watch this then go check out more of their work and buy some of their tunes.
“Painting Reality” is an act of guerilla art, where cars are the paintbrush and the paint is water-based/ environmentally friendly (and comes in bright colors, too!). Click through for video!

Scott Benson has just released this trailer for a forthcoming personal project. Can’t wait to see the final film but I think this preview is a genius little nugget in its own right. He also writes a great blog over here.
Jon McNaught’s subject material is subtle yet his background in printmaking makes his work shine. Go see more of his work here. www.jonmcnaught.co.uk
“Restoration of the Apparently Drowned”
Goodness knows what these two gentlemen were doing gadding around near the edge of that cliff anyway.
This is from an old book called “Household Physician” belonging to my Dad. Damn near broke my scanner due to the huge bulk of the book.
A small boy chances across a fox’s wedding procession in this segment from Akira Kurasawa’s Dreams. Stillness and mystery permeate this haunting example of the master’s work.
“Wings of Desire” is my favourite Peter Falk film. He appears in an unexpected but warm cameo that enriches the whole film.
We’ll keep a look out for a crumpled old coat falling to earth. God’s Speed.
Head over to ‘we are words & pictures’ and pick up a copy of their small press wonder ‘Paper Science’. The last issue came with this brilliant cover by Luke Pearson.

From their site “Yōkai Daizukai is a guide to yōkai—the demon, spirits, or monsters—of Japanese folklore illustrated and authored by horror manga master Shigeru Mizuki, creator of the celebrated GeGeGe no Kitaro series.
This compendium, which includes 85 of the monsters, features not only a description of each and their role in historic mythologies but cuts away to reveal their organs in glorious detail.”
Confident and utterly absorbing work by illustrator Ben Cain. This is an illustration from a personal book project of his based on ‘the Road’ by Cormac McCarthy. Would love to see prints of these images.
Always love a good forest of silver birches, especially ones with creepy eyes on the bark and hordes of evil doers. Jon Klassen’s concept work for Kung Fu Panda 2 - as breathtaking as always.
