A figurative “for rent” sign hangs on the front gate of John F. Kennedy Space Center.
Among the facilities available: A space shuttle launchpad, slightly used; a giant crawler for moving rockets, still servicable; two enormous mobile launch platforms; two space shuttle maintenance hangars; a 15,000-foot concrete runway, one of the world’s longest; and the blocky, 52-story Vehicle Assembly Building, with four soaring rocket assembly bays — and no waiting. A representation of America’s Interstate highway network using the familiar symbology of a subway or transit map - coloured route lines, 45-degree angled lines, interchange “stations” and distorted/simplified geography. The map focuses more on connections than city size or “importance” - thus a small city at the junction of two major routes (those divisible by 5) may seem to be more important than a larger city at the junction of minor (grey) routes.

Emmm...
That didn't last very long did it?
I knew coming back into this that I wasn't going to be posting as often as I was back in my student days, you know with work and relationships and stuff getting in the way. But I didn't intent to leave sitting idle for quarter of a year either!
Well that's not entirely true. I've been posting some bit's and bobs over on my Tumblr account (http://firefawkes.tumblr.com ) 'cause I like the iPhone app.
Yikes that's 2009 almost over with already. How did that happen? It doesn't feel all that long ago we were all being told about the planes falling out of the skies because of the Millenium Bug!
Oh how the times have changed, he says typing this on his iPhone! In 1999 I think I had only just got 26.6kbps Dial-Up Internet access on my Windows 95 PC. How did we cope back then? Think my first e-journal entries could date back that far. I think I may still have the backup copies on floppy disc somewhere, if only there were someway to ready them! Still have mini-discs from that era. Remember them?
Anyway since we're now about to enter the future of 2010, thought that I should come up with some lists, as is the social convention of for this time of year. And, since I'm currently on the train back to Glasgow because my car is stuck in a snow drift up in the Heathen North, I've got time to kill!
So... Here. We. GO:

Not the biggest fan of her work, either as solo artist or Girls Aloud, but I am loving this Steve Angelo remix of Three Words by Cheryl Cole ft Will.I.Am
Shakespeare clearly can't compete with a book with jigsaws in it though...

Compare and contrast the original:
With the new "official trailer":
Why feel the need to de-gay-ify the first trailer? It's 2009 for cryin' out loud! Think audiences are smart enough to know this is a "gay film" sorry a film about a gay man.
Actually it could be a clever marketing gamble, a bit of controversy surrounding the re-editing of the trailer is certainly getting people talking about the film
Major problem with this BlogPress app is that if someone calls you midway through you typing something, it drops what you've written when you end the call. Like what just happened to me before I saved the essay of a post I was working on!
What was it about? Guess you'll never know now will ya!
Eugh! Only 259 weekends left! It's not fair! Can I stop aging now!
Anyway had a really great birthday on Thursday. Just had a few friends round to the flat, after watching the fireworks on Glasgow Green, for booze and food that I'd been cooking all afternoon (mmm Cherry Coke Gammon...)
Although I had to fight them off my birthday present from the best boyfriend in the world. Those that follow my Flickr will already know that I got a Millenium Falcon replica, with real working lights, missile launchers and phrases from the movies! Also, who knew the Falcon had it's own mini fighter/ shuttle pod?
It's so awesome!
Anyway other pressies included; Dollhouse season 1 DVD boxset, The Big Bang Theory season 2 DVD set, Burt&Ernie Adventures and Another Gay Sequel on DVD. An X-Men graphic novel (X-Men: Endangered Species), a gorillapod for my camera and money from Mother, which has already gone towards new shirt and T-Shirt.
Also got taken out for birthday dinner at the City Merchant on Saturday, fantastic steak!

So with the new blog comes the need for a new blogroll.
As with my own blog, a lot of the people I used to follow have lost the appetite to maintain a regular blog. That said there are those that persevere and continue to post something fairly regularly.
So what's new out there in the blogsphere? Who are all the kids following these days? Leave your suggestions in the comments section below.

Well it's come to that time of year again where I need to decide on a Halloween costume.
To recap: Last year I went as Starkiller, Darth Vader's Apprentice from The Force Unleashed. The year before that I was The Doctor.
As for this year I've a few ideas I'm toying with. The first is The Lone Wanderer from Vault 101, from Fallout 3. All this would require is stitching a yellow 101 onto the back of my work boilersuit. Oh and making a Pip-Boy 3000 out of cardboard. Simples! Only problem is the obscurity of the reference, despite Fallout 3 being the game of the year 2009.
My next idea was Captain Jack Harkness. My Doctor Who costume went down well 2 years ago, so could continue the theme. Just bought a coat from the Salvation Army that could pass as Jack's, although it's slightly darker blue. Since I've already got the shirt, boots and toy pistol, all I need to complete the look is his Deus Ex Machina, the Vortex Manipulator, which is a tenner in Forbidden Planet.
The third option I'm thinking of is Marcus Wright from Terminator Salvation. This would use the same coat as Cpt Jack. The only sticking point with this is to get the Terminator endoskeleton look right. I know you can buy official stick on patches, but they're quite expensive for all you get. Have experimented with tinfoil but doesn't look all that good...
So that's what I'm thinking so far and I've got a day and a bit to sort it out!

So since my website shut it's doors, I've suddenly redeveloped an interest in having one again. I guess that's the way it works though, as soon as something you've taken for granted is no longer available to you, you start to miss it.
Therefore I've resurrected the old blogspot blog once again (think this is like the third time now?) to give me a platform to rant on. I've hidden the old archive posts, going all the way back to 2002, for the mean time. Maybe I'll make them public again at some point, who knows.
The problem with the last blog I wrote was that it was stifled by the self-censorship. I couldn't really write about anything too personal, as it affected others in my life, therefore I ended up writing generic posts that weren't really that interesting and it soon became pointless in having a personal blog.
That, and the rise of Twitter has all but decimated the blogsphere. Why log in and publish long winded posts about your day, when you can just sum it up in a 140 character tweet by txt?
So lets see how this goes...
