Epic Martial Arts is the flagship program of the Academy of Martial Philosophy, a not-for-profit martial arts association founded in 2002.
At Epic, we are dedicated to dynamically transforming the lives of our members through the training, philosophies, and lifestyle of the martial arts.
We are not your typical martial arts school.
Our conception of martial arts extends beyond the mat and into our
lives. Yes, we train to make it real, but our self-defense training also includes powerful lessons in anger and stress management, health literacy and advocacy, community activism, environmental self-defense, acts of kindness, mindful living, lifelong learning, and much more - all transformative practices that reach "out of the dojo and into the world".
Every student in our program is their own Epic story. They are engaged in an ongoing process of actively living and reflecting on their journey towards mastery.
Our instructor, Greg Garcia, is a proud participant in The Ultimate Black Belt Test, the most sophisticated, innovative, and influential master teacher training program in the world. He is also a member of The 100, a martial arts educational center and think-tank for redesigning the role of the martial arts teacher in the 21st century global community.
Epic Martial Arts is graciously hosted by Leadership Public School of San Jose, a tuition-free, college-prep charter school. We have small group classes for the LPS San Jose community and educational workshops for members of our extended martial arts family.
Epic Martial Arts does not charge tuition; our program costs are handled through friendly grants, generous donations, student fundraising, and partnerships with amazing local businesses and organizations.
