Exitproject is looking for a bass player!  Our current influences are bands like Bonobo, Massive Attack, and The XX.  We’re looking for a friendly and bass-y person who loves making music.  You can hear some past work over on the Music page.

We practice about once a week at Room 4 Studios in Bristol and gig around once a month (with the most recent gig-gap due to lacking an all-important-fat-groove-serving-bass-player).

Are you that fat-groove-server?  Get in touch – hello@exitproject.co.uk

Another day, another gig, another owl give-away. A big WOOHOO for Emma who won the owl by answering the question ‘What famous and techie CEO retired this week?’ (Answer: Steve Jobs).  Emma named her owl, Howl.  Let’s face it – it’s an awesome name…

The Loui remains one of our favourite Bristol venues – every time we play there the sound guy is learn-ed and friendly, the other bands are cool and a good-musical-fit, and there’s someone on hand that’s organising everything and making sure it runs smoothly.

Thanks to Heroine/Hero and Goldtripp for putting on a good show!  Much bopping was achieved.

The new songs went super well and we’ll get some video up soon!

31st August 2011
Doors @ 8pm
The Louisiana, Bristol
£5 on the door (£4 adv)
(visit the Facebook page for this show)

We’re playing at the Louisiana on 31st August, so come on down and win yourself an owl.  You’ll also catch the tunes of ‘straight up cinematic; moody as hell and theatrical as all get out’ Goldtrip.  Not to mention the mysterious sounds of Heroine Hero…

Will we be giving away a hand-made little crochet owl?  Yes.  Yes we will…  Will you have to answer a trivia question about current events in order to get it?  Yes.  Yes you will…

In addition to the new original song, we’re also doing a new cover of one of our favourite epic pixies – Bjork, so get yourself down and bring your stomping shoes…

Meet Patrick and his new owl Buttons.  What a fine pair!  Patrick won Buttons last night when he came to our show and answered the following question:

Q: How many faults did Emi get when she passed her driving test today?
A: Zero!

Patrick is awesome for several reasons.  1 – He was really freakin’ excited about winning the owl and that’s outstanding.  2 – He and his friends had pub-quiz-esque facts about Chicago that Emi had never heard before.  Win!

Last night was an interesting gig where nothing quite went right, but a good time was still had by all. Four bands were due to play, but the third band disappeared half way through the night and turned up about 20 minutes before the whole gig was supposed to finish. Everyone thought the first band (coming from London) wasn’t going to make it because of traffic, but they rolled up 20 minutes before they were due on.

Crinkle Cuts and Loki’s Motif were thoroughly enjoyable – they both get extra bonus ftw-band-points for visibly having the time of their lives on stage.

Our next show is 31st August at The Louisiana, one of our favourite venues in Bristol.  See you lot there!  Visit our Facebook page and ‘Like’ us to keep up to date with upcoming shows…

ps – Owl fun fact.  The owl given away at last night’s show is the owl that (for a very short time) looked like Hitler.

A big non-harassment-y pat on the back to Diedre who won the owl by answering the question: What famous detective passed away this week?  The answer -> Columbo :(

Diedre named her fuzzy guy Percy after her pet goldfish from childhood.  A good choice!

It was a great show at The Fleece!  A BIG thank you to Ash Wilkinson who did our live sound and did a seriously cracking job.  We also had a surprise when a friend from up North dropped in without telling us – thanks for coming out to the gig, Elliot :)

And to all of you who yelled out ‘Columbo’ just a fraction of a second later than Diedre – come down to our next show and win your owl!  We keep all of our gigs listed here and on our Facebook page, too - http://www.facebook.com/Exitproject

A big ‘congrats-me-babber’ to Gabrielle who won the owl by answering the question: What day of the week was the Apocalypse?  To which the answer was: Saturday.  She’s yet to name her fuzzy winnings, but she did let me know that it’s definitely a girl…

It was an amazing night, peeps!  We shared a stage with Branches and A Genuine Freakshow.  If I had been wearing socks, they would’ve been knocked off.  WOOP!

The next gig is coming up the 27th June at The Fleece in Bristol – mark your calendars, my lovelies…

Woop!  One of my life goals was officially achieved when a song that I helped write was included in the BBC documentary ‘Mark Zuckerberg: Inside Facebook’.  *Happy dance*.  You can hear the song starting at 38:28, or click this link to jump to the right section and have a listen - http://youtu.be/mhLxWOmCoNs?t=38m28s

I’ve been travelling across America for the past 3 weeks and, as a result, have had the pleasure of being involved in some other people’s internet shenanigans :)

My brother, Jake Jarvi, writes and directs a crazy-successful web series called The Platoon of Power Squadron.  He does a weekly update about what’s been done on the latest episode in the past week.  I usually get a guest appearance when I’m in town, so here it is! (Update: it’s already got over 5,000 views!  OH how I love to mooch off my brother’s hard-earned internet fame…)

Eliza (Toser) Jarvi, is an outstandingly talented knitter and I also modelled a pair of her fingerless gloves the other day.  Check out her blog, it’s awesome (click on her name and it’ll take you right there)…

Everything’s changing
Don’t be afraid
There are better things waiting
Things we can embrace

Don’t look back on all that’s past
It’s how you’re made and you shouldn’t change a thing – it’s not what you need
Every time you wish your life away
You forget all the beauty and the memories

It’s all good
Keep in mind all you have
It’s all good
Don’t forget, but don’t look back

It’s getting harder
Don’t lose your sight
It’s making you stronger
Going to make it right

Don’t look back on all that’s past
It’s how you’re made and you shouldn’t change a thing – It’s not what you need
Every time you wish your life away
You forget all the beauty and the memories

It’s all good
Keep in mind all you have
It’s all good
Don’t forget, but don’t look back

Seek me out, I’m all that you need
Wear me down, I am everything

Hunt me, I want you
Catch me, I will let you

Hide away until the time is right
Track my trail, I know you’re right behind

Hunt me, I want you
Catch me, I will let you

I’m not gonna run, not gonna run from you
I’d give it all up, give it all up for you

Just got word that Greek radio station, Viva FM, has one of my upcoming tracks listed as number 9 on their ‘HOT SHOT – Trance anthems not to be missed’ chart.  Always nice news to get!

It’s called ‘Ehren Stowers feat. Emi Jarvi – Predator’ and it’s due to be released on 11th of April 2011.  I’ll post a link when it’s available if anyone wants to buy a copy – or you can hear a preview on the Alter Ego Records website.

WOOHOO!
