“Lost love is still love. It takes a different form, that’s all. You can’t see their smile or bring them food or tousle their hair or move them around a dance floor. But when those senses weaken another heightens. Memory. Memory becomes your partner. You nurture it. You hold it. You dance with it.” - Mitch Albom
“When someone is in your heart, they’re never truly gone. They can come back to you, even at unlikely times.” - Mitch Albom
It’s been a year, but memories of you still dance wildly in our heads. We all know you can never come back, but time and love still takes too long when healing wounds. In fact, they may not fully heal at all.
We cry and shed tears. We may never truly move on, and things will never be the same. For no matter how gradually we remove our mourning veils until they are truly gone, there remains the fact that the smile we remember may not be the smile we knew…and we may need to refer to your old, faded pictures for fear of truly forgetting it. No matter how much we try, the memories that will remain are those of how we remember them…and they will never be as real as those we shared in close proximity when we laughed about the past and shared each of our versions of the story.
Goodbye - you have gone somewhere we could never meet again. It’s difficult to accept the pain of your departure, no matter how long ago it was.
Goodbye - the saddest word. It brings about the sad realization that you will never see or hold each other again no matter how hard you try. No matter how much we scream, cry or plead, the words will never reach you. Maybe it might, but it will not bring you back.
Years may pass, new experiences may arrive, stories may come and go, but none could truly heal the throbbing pain brought about by the empty space of your leaving.
All we could do is hold on to our memories of you, and believe that as long as we remember, you are never truly gone.
We may not be together in the same plane of existence, but we could hold on to the idea that true love goes beyond life and death. And for that, you will always be with us in our hearts and in our minds.
We will always love you. I will always love you. You will never be forgotten, because love knows no boundaries be it life, time or death.
May God guide us in immortalizing your life and your story through our thoughts and deeds as we move forward in this world. God guide us in steering our lives to the right path.
The world has lost another life, yet gained another immortal soul.
For the body is but a decaying shell, yet the soul an immortal entity. Most of all, the story of a life well-lived is eternal.
