Amazing Ad Campaign of the Day: To creatively demonstrate their sound engineering capabilities, GGRP Sound sent out a mess of cardboard record players — designed by GREY of Canada — to creative directors across North America.
The cardboard record player is exactly what it sounds like: A record player made from corrugated cardboard:
Once assembled, a record can be spun on the player with a pencil. The vibrations go through the needle and are amplified in the cardboard material.
I don’t know much, but I do know this: Every single last record should come wrapped inside a cardboard record player.
I’m sure yk records would approve of this packaging.

Helvetica Poster by Toby NG
These brands distinct themselves in their respective fields, but they differ not in one pick – Helvetica. So popularly chosen to be the logo font, Helvetica should perhaps carry with it a trademark (and is awarded one on the poster!). The red and white of the poster serves as a clue on the home country of Helvetica, the font for logos.

Paint It Black - The Animals
A cover from the classic Rolling Stones hit single is one of the most memorable songs I’ve heard. Every time I listen to this song I am reminded of the PS2 video game, Twisted Metal: Black, a video game about a deadly vehicular deathmatch in a dystopian post-apocalyptic society. It was the introduction song for the game and it perfectly sets up the dark mood. With it’s sitar and acoustic guitar riffs, the dark ominous violins, and the powerful memorable lyrics about a man mourning the death of his girlfriend makes this song is a ride through the darkest corners of human emotion, death, confusion, anger, depression, and regret. Once a loved one dies a part of us always turns black, we paint it black with the anger and the grief we hold inside. Black is the color of the absence of life, in blackness our emotions lay dormant, and when everything is black only death follows us.
“With flowers and my love both never to come back, I see people turn their heads and quickly look away like a new born baby it just happens ev’ry day I look inside myself and see my heart is black. I see my red door and it has been painted black, maybe then I’ll fade away and not have to face the facts, it’s not easy facin’ up when your whole world is black”

I’ve been a fan of Souls of Mischief for a while now. I guess since 1993 when they released 93’ Til Infinity. I never thought they’d still be producing quality hip hop nearly 20 years later. It’s crazy to think about that. Anyways, here is a video from the most recent release produced by Prince Paul. The song is called “Proper Aim”. You get to see the artist, Steven Lopez, create the cover art for the CD. It’s a great idea and it’s executed pretty well.

First of all, thanks to @carynorton for this most awesome portrait. It's simply stunning that he shot these the day of the bowling. It was fascinating just watching him get through everyone... exhausting in fact. For this, and much more... he's a legend. Also, again, to @chinfropro for his photobooth and @yourfavorite for his most awesome split polaroids.
Obviously we all thank @Mackle for this whole thing and I'm sure he's tired of hearing it but he's a true legend!
I need to thank @johnatcollege for coming with me to Nashville. It would have been a longer trip without him and he makes me laugh so hard. On that note, I want to shout out to @rnnbrwn and Claire too. They are the most awesome couple around and anyone who had the chance to meet them know what I'm talking about. Still keeping with my trip to Nashville I want to give a special thanks to @Ben (and his lovely wife Jess for lending him to us). He picked us up at the airport, drove us all around town and took us to not just Lynchberg but also Kentucky. John and I really owe our holiday to you - but not just for showing us around, no sir, for being fun... I mean, this guy is hilarious. I've not laughed so much in all my life (and I'm sure John feels the same). @Ben is the greatest and we both consider him a great friend... a friend for life. I think it's great too that @Maggie made it out to Nashville for the Throwdown and I think you'll all agree she's something else!
I could mention almost everyone on the site here for being awesome but instead I will name a very short few (which I feel weird doing as there were so many great people) but I need to thank @OzzyNelson for my homebrew breakfast at his place and for teaching me to speak southern. I loved meeting @Dschonn and discussing linguistics and such things. I hope you get to school in Germany and somehow find your way over to visit us here in Glasgow. Also, @JamesC - who is in fact not a complete dick afterall but the sweetest gentlemen you could ever hope to meet. Emma and I shall wear our Boise State t-shirts with pride and hope you feel part of the scottish tartan army just the same.
On top of this... thanks to everyone... you made me come back every single day and post even though I was busy. Even though I had things that needed done and people who demanded my attention. You made me love Whiskerino last time and this time and I hope to see a great deal of you again in Moustache May.
Oh yea, and Richard (marmeluk)... he's the guy who introduced me to it before the 2007 Whiskerino started. Thanks man.
Man, this caption is getting to be much bigger than I intended. I guess all that's left to say is "thanks @Emma" as without you being as cool as you are I probably wouldn't bother! xxx

Totally off-theme! But we had a great time at the Jack Daniel's Distillery today and just had to use this photo. It was sunny. We did the tour. We had lunch at Little Miss Fanny Booboo's (or whatever it's called). We saw buzzards... thousands of buzzards! We drove around. We saw the Human Being exhibition. We walked around the Nashville bars and saw some country music singers. Now we're back at the hotel and gettting ready to go out for more fun! Oh, and this morning I made my own waffle... AMAZING!!!!!!

Review 1) pick the right glass and the right temperature 2) Swirl 3) Drive by 4) Sniff like a dog. Now, the final stage, take a drink. Note not only the taste but also how it feels in your mouth and your throat when you swallow. Does it feel "thin"? Does it leave a coating on your mouth like a sugary drink? How about the aftertaste, really bitter? Smokey? Grassy? Okay, not a totaly captionbute as the flavours between whisky and ber differe quite considerable, but I really enjoyed @OzzyNelson's beer tasting tips. I can honestly say that they have helped me with my own whisky tastings forthwith. Naturally after class we go for beers... this is when Ozzy's advice really comes into play. Here's the gang saying hi.

@Emma spent a good while placing spaghetti in my beard tonight. Only 50 strands (but each one quartered - so 200 sticks of pasta) it was fun and weird and strangely something I have been waiting to do for a while now as I didn't do it last Whiskerino.

@mattyC is one of those guys. Not just one of those guys that like stripes... but one of those guys that love stripes. He's also one of the few people who I met on Whiskerino that I kept in contact with and chatted to over the last two years after the previous Whiskerino finished. Not sure if that made sense... but anyway, here's some whisky containers to look at (sort of looks like stripes... I guess).

Sooooo... whisky class tonight. I took home the best part of a Glendronach 12 yr and it's lovely. We tasted (blind), as well as this whisky, Arran 10yr, Glencadam 15yr, Balblair 1989, Highland Park 12yr and Jura 10yr (with a wee bonus Ballantines this and that). Anyway, I'm drunk and this is me before I started the tasting with my very good friend Andy. @Emma says I should use this photo. But I think that's just because her dad's in it.

The only other thing I could think of was my pennies (which I hadn't had out since last Whiskerino. So I built a wee pyramid out of them - I have no idea how much is there to be honest. Lots. It was either that or my DVDs again.

In short, a year or so ago my friend Andy, SirKevin, @Emma and I decided to do the West Highland Way. During which we met Bob! The legend you see in this photo sporting a rather fantastic Van Dyke. Having met such a profoundly amazing person we decided to stay in touch and periodically meet up with him for beers, chat and endless laughter due to his geordie charms. For my birthday last year Andy, @JohnAtCollege and I managed to meet up with him and his son, Adam, at Bridge of Orchy and had a most triumphant night (Adam is pictured here sporting a rather awesome Horseshoe moustache). So anyway, aye, tonight, as @JohnAtCollege mentioned earlier... we all met up for drinks. Lots of drinks. Lots and lts of drinks. In this photo, behind me from left to right, is: Andy (ma good buddy), Nicola (his burd), Adam (Bob's son), Stuart (my wee brother), @JohnAtCollege, and Bob (the legend). Not pictured here, but was presented throughout most of the night, is McGoo (my good pal from uni) and Martin (my best friend from school). Also, at the beginning of the day, we met up with SirKevin (who I feel deserves a mention in this tale). Anyway... it's 2am now and I need tae get tae bed. Have a good 'un. Goodnight! A special thanks to my brother Stuart for coming out tonight... he made it awesome!

Hello, SirKevin here! Ten years ago I got a Casio Wrist Camera as a xmas present, ten years later @revgoomba told me aboot todays theme and I raked out the nostalgic treasure. Unfortunately, technology has superseded the downloading system. The camera works on IR and the adaptor was a 9 pin reader, which modern technology seems to have left behind. So digging out an old laptop that had a 9 pin port, I was able to send the picture onto the computer, or so I thought. The old laptop ran on Windows 95 and only had a disk drive. The watch program was on CD and only worked on Windows 98. So taking that as fate, we went for this alternative. See you in May, Kev!

My mum and dad treated me and @Emma, my sisters Aimeé and Gillian and my wee brother Stuart for a lovely Christmas lunch (stole a quick snap at dessert - my mum appears to have avoided it). After this @Emma, Stuart and I went into Glasgow to meet @johnatcollege, our buddy McGoo, my god friend Sharon and her daughter Aimee, @Emma's sister Jennifer and my good friend from work Neil to watch It's a Wonderful Life in the Glasgow Film Theatre. It's now fast approaching midnight and Stuart and I are at my folks house watching a film before sleeptime (which is very soon). Santa is coming tonight! Merry Christmas beardos! Have a good one!

Life is full, full of surprises! This lunchtime I took a photo for @johnatatcollege - so I feel this is a pretty good opportunity to introduce him to you. I have been friends with @johnatcollege for many years now and recently he decided to join in the Whiskerino fun with me. He missed the sign up window (to be honest he'd probably be shamed by now for not posting regularly enough anyway) but shaved on the 1st of Novemeber nonetheless and three weeks later he's still with the rest of us - scruffy and awesome! He has set up a tumblr account and is growing and showing in his own little way (so if you use Tumblr, you could follow him there): http://whiskerinoatcollege.tumblr.com Say "hi" - some of you will be seeing him at Throwdown with me in February.

Firstly, I slept in today and didn't have time to get the old kilt on again so this is as non-casual as I could do. Sorry. Secondly, do you know how long I ended up waiting for a clear moment in George Square to snap this shot?

For me, the only month that says "moustache" is May. But my friend, Dave Wagner, gave me a few bottles of Brew Dog's tribute beer to Movember... I just had to give it a mention. Thanks Dave!

After talking to @hale I remembered I had bought a dirty little AGFA Super Silette for just £4 from a car-boot sale in Edinburgh. I had taken it home all excited and cleaned all the insides, inspected all the obvious components (and they appeared to work enough to use), loaded it with film and carried it with me for a few days snapping now and again. That was months and months ago and I had forgotton all about it. The counter is broken and I couldn't remember how many I'd taken, but this morning I snapped another couple and handed it in for an hours developing. It worked!
