This time Anberlin’s back in Melbourne for the 2nd time this year and it was brilliant. Although I’ve seen them at Soundwave 09,why not see them live another time? I didn’t bother remembering the setlist but most songs were from Cities and New Surrender. I thought they should’ve given us a better encore. I always think a slow song doesn’t end the night proper. Nobody wants to feel sad thinking it’s all going to be over once these guys finishes the song.
Alright Update with the Set List they played that night.
Resistance
Disappear
Breaking
Adelaide
A Day Late
Paperthin Hymn
Inevitable
The Unwinding Cable Car
Hello Alone
True Faith (cover)
Dismantle.Repair.
Godspeed
Feel Good Drag Fin (encore)
Why don’t tall guys at gigs realise that they’re just too tall for the crowd. Of course, everyone would like to get a close-up view of their favorite band but it’s nice to always consider the crowd behind. Tall guys pretty much get a better view from the back anyways! If I were in his shoes I’d just pick up a short girl by letting her stand in front of me for the night instead of her standing behind sweat-filled t-shirts. Uber score.
Brilliant show, wished they played more songs. I bought the first two albums from the merch shop, 20 bucks each, pretty decent!! Hope to see them again real soon!

Soundwave has been an annual thing for me so I won’t be missing out in next year’s event. Ticket sales for early bird tickets start this week but not much information is released. I’m guessing it’ll be out on Friday. The All-American Rejects concert happens to coincide with my buddy’s birthday so I’m going with him! What do you think will be tonight’s AAR setlist? Make sure you’re all out screaming tonight as I’ll be doing so too.
The setlist should be something like this tonight, I hope.
Updated: with the songs they played, quite as predicted but they included lots of songs from their old album! The show was super fkn gooood!!!!!! So much interaction with the crowd and I think the best moment was at the end where everyone just got so hyped up for the encore.. Gives You Hell was played right at the end and it was fucking amazing! Great crowd interactions, as expected from AAR. Big credits to Hoobastank too, they basically sang all my favourite song from The Reason album. “Out of Control”, “Same Direction” and tons of quality songs. Not to forgot The Reason itself! Everyone just went crazy lol. GOOD SHOW.
Setlist (not quite complete. I forgot. Maybe a Good Samaritan can help me out here?) (Complete now thanks to Lulu!) :D

This guide has step-by-step instructions on how to make sure Vista and Windows 7 install from a USB drive. I’ve tried many using “Install Vista from USB guide” but after downloading Windows 7 beta, the usual Kurt‘s method did not work for me , giving me some error stating there’s a partition boot error. I found a method which worked for Windows 7 so time to share! ^_^
Index
1. Stuff we need
2. Why not DVD?
3. Instructions!
4. ALL done!
5. Which DISK?
Stuff we need
- USB Pen Drive! or USB hard drive (at least 4gb)
- The windows image file (duh!)
- A motherboard supporting bootable USB drives (even my 4 yr old comp has it)
- A cup of coffee.Go to top
Why not DVD?
If you’re just the average user, installing for a dvd is just fine, but when installing Windows on multiple computers, it’s going to be annoying because the time spent waiting isn’t worth it. Installing via the USB 2.0 drives are so much faster than DVD’s and that’s my way to go from now on. Of course, keep the good ol’ DVD in case of emergency. I’ve cut down installation times from 40 mins to around 20 mins on my loyal AMD Opteron rig.
Instructions!
1. Plug in your USB pendrive. You’ll see something like this in your My Computer
(i’m using an external 40gb usb drive, taken from my PS3 xD)
2. Format the usb drive from cmd.
- From Start Menu > Run > type “cmd”
- make sure you have Adminstrator rights!
3. Next we type in the set of commands. I will assume your USB drive is DISK 1. (Don’t know which disk? Read here)
- Type DISKPART
- Type SELECT DISK 1
- Type CLEAN
- Type CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
- Type ACTIVE
- Optional, you might this if can’t format. Type SELECT VOLUME #, just type LIST VOLUME beforehand
- Type FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK
- Type ASSIGN
- Type EXIT
Now you’ll be back in CMD not DISKPART. Don’t exit CMD yet.
4. Extract or mount the image file, or insert the Windows DVD into your optical drive.
- If you have a Windows 7 or Vista DVD then insert into the drive and note the Drive letter
- If you have the image file then mount it or extract it.
- I have mine extracted into a folder on my C:
I’m going to assume your DVD drive is E: and USB drive is F:
- Type E: CD BOOT
- Type CD BOOT
- Type BOOTSECT.EXE /NT60 F:
If you’ve extracted to a folder on your computer, the command is the same except;
- Type CD C:\Foldername\
- In my example is CD C:\Windows7\
5. Copy the Windows files content into the USB pendrive.
- Type XCOPY E:\*.* /s/e/f F:\
If you’ve extracted to a folder on you computer like me, then;
- Type XCOPY C:\Foldername\*.* /s/e/f F:\
All Done!
Okay, now the USB drive is bootable!, make sure to change your motherboard’s boot sequence, usually press DEL, F1 or ESC at the bootscreen! Good luck!
Credits to: HOWTO: Install Windows Vista from a high speed USB 2.0 Flash Drive
Which DISK?
When entered DISKPART, you might have many hard disk installed.
- Type ”LIST DISK”
- Look for the correct disk size to decide which Disk is your USB drive.

Food here is just spicy but nothing compared to Dainty!
2 weeks ago we decided to have Dainty’s but as usual the place was jam packed, especially on a Friday night. While we were walking by it one of the easily recognizable waiter came out with a camcorder, shooting the long, snake-line queue. Nice advertising material there Dainty. I was never a spicy food lover, but Dainty changed my life, I now have a love-hate relationship with spicy food.
Keeping that in mind, we looked for a place to satisfy our Dainty hunger and found a new competitor in the vicinity, Spicy Temptation House. The shop is still very new so we decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, the experience was unsatisfying. We did not get to taste ANYTHING. We walked right out of the shop, try to satisfy our little stomachs.
“a Hungry man is an Angry man.”
Poor service and management
There were around 20 floor staffs but they don’t seem to work efficiently. Most of the time waiting in front of the kitchen entrance. After waiting for almost an hour, we could see disgruntled faces all over. We spoke to the floor manager but it didn’t seem he did anything with our complain. Instead, he went chatting with the female staffs.
Typo on Menu!
The menu was horrible, I think they have improved it now, with lesser errors.
- Pork Fee
- Poseidon dish with Carb Meat.
How are they going to attract Australians with such lousy menu? Slap in a picture or two and include a Chef’s recommendation for starters.
Round 2. Chance.
Plans were made for another Dainty punishment, but learned that the shop has MOVED. !?!?!?!! Again, with my forgiving nature, we gave them another chance. This time on a weekday.
Food
Food here was alright, but it ain’t Dainty’s. We asked for recommendation, and we basically got all the expensive ones on our dining table. Nothing stood out, the beef pot, fish, prawns were alright. The eggplant dish was good but it wasn’t spicy.
Will I visit Spicy Temptation House again?? Not in a long long time…..

Connecting to Melbourne Uni with a Nokia Symbian phone wasn’t as easy as I thought, but I managed to get it to work on my E71. It should work with 802.11x enabled phones, N-series and E-series, and all Series 60 Symbian OS phones.
The Wireless SSID is “UniWireless”
Alright, here goes!
A. Define SSID
- Go to Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Access points.
- Click on Options, then New access point.
- Under Connection name, key in UniWireless.
- Under Data bearer, select Wireless LAN.
- Under WLAN network name, key in UniWireless.
- Under Network status, leave as Public.
- Under WLAN netw. mode, leave as Infrastructure.
- Under WLAN security mode, select 802.1x.
- Click on WLAN security settings, it redirects to another page.
- Under The WPA/WPA2 , leave it as EAP.
- Enter EAP plugin-settings, and brings you to another page.
- ENABLE EAP-PEAP (check mark will only appear beside EAP-PEAP) and DISABLE the rest. Leave ONLY EAP-PEAP enabled.
- Enter EAP-PEAP, and you will get into another page.
B. Configuring EAP-PEAP
- Under Personal certificate, leave it as Not defined.
- Under Authority certificate, select Thawte Premium Server.
- Under User name in use, select User defined.
- Under User name, key in your UniMelb UserID. (the one for e-mail login purposes)
- Under Realm in use, select User defined.
- Under Realm, leave as BLANK.
- Under Allow PEAPv0, select Yes.
- Under Allow PEAPv1, select No.
- Under Allow PEAPv2, select No.
- Move to EAPs tab, by pressing your right arrow key. (most people don’t notice this tab!)
C. Configuring EAP-MSCHAPv2
- ENABLE EAP-MSCHAPv2 (check mark will only appear beside EAP-MSCHAPv2) and DISABLE the rest. Leave ONLY EAP-MSCHAPv2 ENABLED.
- Click on EAP-MSCHAPv2, and you will get into a new page.
- Under User name, key in your UniMelb UserID. (the one for e-mail login purposes)
- Under Prompt password, select No.
- Under Password, key in your UniMelb Password.
- Click Back 3 times.
D. Proxy Setup
- Click Options > Advanced Settings
- Leave IPv4 and IPv6 settings.
- Proxy server address should be: wwwproxy.student.unimelb.edu.au
- Proxy port number: 8000
- Click Back all the way till Standby screen.
E. Scanning For UniWireless SSID
- Turn On your WLAN scanning and you should be able to detect and connect to “UniWireless” network.
For other phones or devices, you should try this site:

Alright guys, this is a Guide to streaming videos with subtitle on PS3 with Java PS3 Media Server! PS3 Media Server is a new program so much easier to set up than TVersity. It’s Java based, works for Windows or Linux and capable of transcoding any HD content to your PS3 with subtitles on the fly.
Okay for those people who followed my TVersity guide, you should install Vista Codec Pack and remove “ffdshow-tryouts” although it isn’t necessary.
And this program works well with the Xbox 360 as well! Try PS3 Media Server!
Playing the video files (some extracted from Readme)
- Install PS3 Media Server. Download it here.
- Get and install AVISynth 2.5.7 from here (2.5.8 not recommended)
- Install codec pack, I recommend Vista Codec Pack or if you are using Windows 7, use Win7 Codec Pack
- Set up the FFDShow Audio Decoder Config > Mixer to your preference, or this one 5.1 (3/0/2 LFE)
- Set “Autoload VSFilter” to Yes in Haali Splitter settings. *if necessary*
- Configure Haali Splitter (audio/subtitles language priorities) *if necessary*
- You can have optional codecs i.e. CoreAVC, Quicktime Alternative and Real Alternative.
Fine Tuning PS3 Media Server
Mencoder settings:
Common transcode settings:
- UPDATE: v1.10.5 has improved Mencoder settings especially with subtitles, so no need to play with AviSynth priorities anymore.
- There’s nothing much to tweak for this program as it runs perfectly fine after install.
- Go to Navigation/Share settings and add the folder you want your video files played.
- Download “VSFilter.dll” here. Place it inside Avisynth’s plugin folder found in “Program Files/Avisynth 2.5/plugin”.
- Go to Transcoding Settings to change your Video quality, I use Good Quality and everything plays without stuttering.
*- Change “Avisynth/Mencoder” to 1st priority by clicking the Up/Down arrow on the bottom.*
If your PS3 detects the Media Server, everything should play up nicely!
Notes
- You must have .avi files with .ass subtitle files in the same folder with same name and they will play just fine in your PS3.
