Title: Time Travel, Death by Doughnuts & The Valentine's Day Sampler

If you enjoyed my doughnut induced death story then you will really enjoy this one!! ..............................................................................................................................................(dots to build suspense while you are waiting)

If you really paid attention to the news of my death then you would have noticed that the date at the bottom of the article was in the year 2065. Amazingly only a few people caught onto that when responding to me about it. Although that is still strange because a few thought I was really dead and still wrote me an email.

I actually was really dead and though altered as you will soon see, the news story was true.......it just happened a few months before my 100th birthday was to take place. The following is the true story of how I came by that article and changed history!!! ..................................................................................................................................................(more dots for added suspense)

Remember voting for me in The Alternate Root Magazine's  Valentine Sampler Contest?? (if the link to their website doesn't work yet just keep reading to see why)  If you didn't vote or didn't know about it that's OK but I actually got picked to be on the sampler with some pretty big names in music but then their server crashed and their website has been down ever since!  (As I am writing this they are still working on recovering it all)

Well first and foremost the sampler is not doing me any good if it is not there to download before Valentine's Day...haha It's like someone telling you that you just won a new car but then they take it away and you never get to actually drive it. But if you promise not to tell anyone about my time machine, I'll tell ya a secret.......

I actually went forward in time just a little at first and checked the results of the contest and how it would affect my future if things went as planned. Turns out I got discovered by a major label because of it and then a few years further into the future some nut job actually went around and killed and ate everyone that was included in the sampler. As it turns out it was the the same day that the sampler was put out that he had downloaded it and gave it as a present to what he had hoped would be his future wife. She instead took the music from him and then went off with another guy and broke his heart. He had become obsessed with her and only found solace when he locked himself indoors and ate whole boxes of chocolate samplers. Then there was new medical finding that chocolate, though always a well loved sweet, was actually causing cancer. The woman he had loved all his life had gotten cancer from eating chocolate around the same time. So he went nuts and in his head he blamed all of his troubles on that original Valentine's Sampler he had given her.....it was music instead of chocolate but by now he was insane. He then set out on a quest to kill and ingest all of the artists that were listed on the sampler credits and I died a horrible death way before my time.

So what I did to fix this situation was to stop all of this from happening by hacking the server of the magazine's website after coming back to the present time and right before the release of the music sampler. I succeeded in doing so and thus gave myself a long and rich life full of doughnuts instead. I got back in my time machine and set it to the date of my death to find out that I had lived to be almost 100 years old and saw all the things I had achieved in my new life. I read the newspaper while there and forgot to take the article out of my back pocket when taking the return trip home. Once I had realized what I had done, I got the idea to take the article and use it to promote my new EP and also the Interview with Coyote Kev on The Last Chance Saloon Sunday Radio Show that airs on Sunday Feb 12th, 2012. The post I made is what ended up making me a famous singer/songwriter in the future and eventually led my song Jelly Bean to be so well loved that Krispy Kreme (Actual Spelling, I mis-spelled it on purpose in the post btw) anyway, they gave me the lifetime supply of doughnuts and so I ended up dying in a much better way than being eaten by an insane cannibal with a broken heart that was on a personal vendetta to take revenge on the imaginary cause of his pain.

It was also important to alter the actual date in the article by just a tad...the year was correct but the day of the week was wrong if you actually bother to check the calendar for that year on your computer. I needed it to look real at first but leave enough clues to make it look like a joke in order for my plan to work.

Now if you enjoyed hearing about all of this...wait until you hear about my favorite guitar trick on the upcoming interview with Coyote Kev......it's a doozy LOL

Oh and in case you are wondering, the magazine will get their website back up and still put out the sampler but it will be after the time that the insane guy had actually downloaded his free copy of it. In fact a lot of people went looking for it and found the website missing and just forgot about it all instead. You should know by now that it doesn't take much to lose people's trust as a musician or web content provider. If you look like you don't have your act together then people will just write you off and forget about you. This is what happens to the sampler but luckily The Alternate Root will still get lots of downloads & get their reputation back from it and survive based on the simple fact that they rock!! Plus after all it was not their fault that the server crashed when it did now was it?. So everyone comes out better in the end for my efforts.

You see it all comes down to one simple truth that I have come to truly believe in and is a major player in my New Perspective on life and included in my new album in a coded way. "Everything Happens for a Reason" so as long as you remember that, even the bad things in life have a silver lining and may well set into effect a course of events that can even save your life and get you some free doughnuts.

Now you might say that I am crazy but the truth is that.I am just lucky enough to know the future because of a time machine that I accidentally climbed into one day. It looked like a phone booth and I just needed to make a call you see....... ;)

This same story I just told you will also become a part of my history as I share it with the world to explain the article on my death that I posted all over the net. Of course they will all just see me as a creative genius for making up such a wild story to promote my album....but at the same time that is what will help to win them over and make them look forward to hearing more from me. Of course I know all of this because I have a time machine and have seen it for myself you see!  It's all about the buzz you create for yourself and if you can do that while letting them think you are just being silly and it still works for ya then it's all worth the effort.

So am I really a creative genius or do I just a have a wild imagination or is the story you have just heard actually true? I will let you be the judge of that one 8~)

UPDATE: NEW PERSPECTIVE Album Progress

For those of you who are patiently waiting on the new album, I assure you it's still on the way.  Originally my plans to release it earlier last year got put on hold due to funding issues and the general economical concers that everyone was experiencing in 2011.

THE GOOD NEWS
Because of the diversions from the original plan, the album is turning out even better than I had hoped for.  It takes a lot of work and long hours to put out a whole album by yourself but I am getting there step by step and looking forward to it's release soon.
There are a few demos floating around on my Website

that are very stripped down versions of some of the tunes that will make the final cut for the album.  But until the rest is finished, I will be holding on to the finished songs and looking forward to sharing them in their own time.  Keep watching and listening and stay tuned and I will keep you updated from time to time on how things are coming along.

The Brand New Music Video for the Hit Single, SWIM is now out and available on www.davidallenslater.com

After writing and recording his new single in just one day on June 12th and releasing it the following day, David Allen Slater has now created a fantastic music video for the song less than a week later and has just released it today.

The video was completed early in the morning on Saturday June 18th, 2011 just in time and a day early for Father's Day which falls on Sunday June 19th in 2011. DAS included a Father's Day theme in the video's opening credits and audio as he wanted to acknowledge all the hard working Dad's out there that do so much for their kids. Being a father himself, he wanted to share the positive message that this new song brings to all.

The song is called SWIM in reference to life being like a river that we so often let pass us by. The message in the song is to jump back in before it's too late and do the things you've been putting off for so long or too afraid to take on. It was written from David's own personal experiences from holding himself back and from the theme for his new album which is all about having a New Perspective on things.
