The long anticipated new album from Sigur Ros drops a week from today. The band held a global listening party last week, and it’s now streaming on-demand via NPR and The Guardian. It goes without saying that I’m in love at first listen.

Beautiful. Sigur Ros has a way of leaving me on the edge of tearing up, but along with a smile.

Today Mr. T Turns 60

Happy birthday, Laurence Tureaud!

Here he is playing the White House Santa in 1983.

When I was younger - 3-4ish, I used to watch “The A - Team” and was obsessed with Mr T. Any time my mother would joke around telling me Mr T. was not attractive, I’d become visibally upset and shout out in Italian - “NO! e Bello!!” (No, he’s beautiful!).

My tastes have considerably changed since then…

2am YouTube wormhole led me to this wonderful 90s R&B Medley. I miss 90s R&B.

  • sixthsenses: same mistakes Same Mistakes - Echo Friendly I never did grow up, feels like I never will. My friends are all adults, I’m still a teenage girl. I haven’t changed a bit. I’m still not over it. I make the same mistakes, I make the same mistakes. My friends are all a drag, they think I’m such a flake. They want to go to bed, I want to stay up late. Walking the streets alone, thinking of you ‘til dawn. I make the same mistakes. I make the same mistakes.

  • From The 30 Day Song Challenge. 10. Song That Makes You Fall Asleep - Sophie Hunger | Le Vent nous portera Many songs help me to fall asleep, and I have several playlists in iTunes, and one I started in rdio specifically for that purpose. This was the first song that came to mind though, and I remember when I randomly discovered it summer of 2011. I loved it so much, had it on repeat and ended up taking a 3 hour nap. No idea what she’s singing, but doesn’t matter. It’s soothing and serves it’s purpose; to lull me to sleep.

  • From The 30 Day Song Challenge. 9. Song You Can Dance To - Precious Box | George Michael I rarely ever dance in public, but I do all the time in private because there’s a secret wild inhibited dancer living inside of me. If it wasn’t for a couple of girls laughing hysterically and pointing at me the FIRST time I had the courage to dance at a party (I was 13), maybe things would be different. Those bastards. Anyway… I randomly remembered this song last night so it’s fresh in my mind. I used to dance in my car to it as I’d drive into Manhattan (from Queens) before a night out. Random, huh? But whatever - I still love it, and can’t sit still when I hear it.

  • This has been one of my favorite Bjork songs for over 10 years and I never grow tired of it. After my first heartbreak around 2005, I obsessively listened to it every day feeling sorry for myself. I had even paid this graphic design artist a couple of hundred bucks to do a painting with the lyrics. At the time, he was making these paintings anywhere from $50-$100. He never did it, but I let him keep the money anyway because he was struggling. I then almost had the lyrics tattooed onto my forearm. Then it shifted to possibly across my shoulder blades. Although, I’m glad I never had these words permanently placed into my skin (I mean, it’s a little dramatic) - this song, and these lyrics will always remind me of the person I used to be, and sometimes, miss. While you are awayMy heart comes undoneSlowly unravelsIn a ball of yarnThe devil collects it with a grinOur love in a ball yarn He’ll never return itSo when you come back, we’ll have to make new love

  • hipsterdiet: For the next three minutes I implore you to hit play and read these words as if the world—the world in which we live was on the precipice of war. A war which the world had never seen, where people and society and rank were all being turned on their head. For the show Downton Abbey, we have England as a back drop. For family at the center of the story it’s all about order. In many ways the order they had strived so long to maintain was falling to pieces nationwide with the industrial revolution shifting the classes, leaving their monarchy woefully underprepared. Downton Abbey is a show yes, a commentary on the time and place—albeit fictional—that historians for large part believe could have existed, but more over we find it serves as an escape for the viewers today from a world that is in large part suffering from a similar fate. The first world is losing it’s grip on economic imperialism and the advances in technology, education and healthcare are bringing opportunity to regions as far flung as the mind can imagine and yet here we sit woefully underprepared and blissfully ignorant much like the monarchs of early 20th century Britain. It’s an important show, a heartfelt one, and above all a brilliant one from all angles; the music could improve a bit however. Season 2 premiers in the states tomorrow night on PBS. Kate Spencer wrote a great Season 1 recap on HelloGiggles should you need a refresher. I did exactly as instructed, and now I’m feeling torn about wether to go about my day, or stay right here and watch the entire first season.

  • 1. Favorite Song - Cat Power | The Greatest Alright - something I’ve been putting off for a while but I’m going to start since I am obsessed with music. 30 Day Song Challenge. So yes, there will be 30 days in which I will post a song - just don’t expect them to all be in succession ;) Fav song is the hardest most impossible ever. I could probably pick a favorite child easier (if I had children). Since I am listening to one of my sleepy playlist right now - I will go with a favorite song of mine that’s on there. Cat Power - The Greatest. There was a period of time I’d listen to this song and cry because I felt disappointed in what I had (not) accomplished in my life. It’s a good feeling to be able to listen, think it’s beautiful and fall asleep. Cat Power makes me wish I had a lavish bathtub and liked wine more than I do. I’d light candles, soak in a bubble bath, drink red wine and play her albums. Once I wanted to be the greatest No wind or waterfall could stall me And then came the rush of the flood Stars of night turned deep to dust

I absolutely loved this movie. So much, that I have seen it twice, 3 days apart. No question that the soundtrack added to the captivating experience I had watching the film.
