CALL TO BOSTON ARTISTS:

It’s that time of the year again, Feast Mass is looking for your submissions, projects and ideas. Join us!

Feast Mass is a recurring dinner party that gives micro-grants to make good ideas happen. During each dinner, people present proposals for creative, community-based projects that need funding. Everyone votes, and the winner receives a grant funded entirely from the night’s ticket sales.

Watch video above and click below for Submission Guidelines.

Check out the beautiful illustrations of Charles Dickens’s ‘The Uncommercial Traveler’ by my friend Autumn for Paravion Press.

“Are we not sometimes troubled by our own sleeping inconsistencies, and do we not vexedly try to account for them or excuse them, just as these do sometimes in respect of their waking delusions? Said an afflicted man to me, when I was last in a hospital like this, ‘Sir, I can frequently fly.’ I was half ashamed to reflect that so could I by night. Said a woman to me on the same occasion, ‘Queen Victoria frequently comes to dine with me, and her Majesty and I dine off peaches and macaroni in our night-gowns…” Dickens, The Uncommercial Traveler

My first night at the new space (yes, Spirited has officially joined a Creative Co-op space in Boston South End with other incredibly talented artists!!!!) was celebrated by cutting old Spirited posters and drinking cheap wine with Brendan and Joey. Good Times.

Our “Let’s Make Boston Awesome Plan” has begun.

More news about the space soon…

All I have to say…this is going to BE the ALBUM OF THE YEAR for me and a whole lot of people.

Things aren’t all so tangible and sayable as people would usually have us believe; most experiences are unsayable, they happen in a space that no word has ever entered, and more unsayable than all other things are works of art, those mysterious existences, whose life endures beside our own small, transitory life.

-Rainer Maria Rilke

For the past month or so I have worked with incredible artists and photographers on the making of Spirited’s Noir generation.

My favorite part in Spirited’s trajectory is when I can work closely with the story and guide its path with a series of elements: the artist, the feedback, the muse and the final product.

These are unreleased and unselected shots that are not going to be in the magazine because we couldn’t justify using all of them to tell a story (even knowing we wanted to), but are images I love for one reason or another. I finally begin to understand what it means to have too much of a good thing. I’m in love with this issue, I’m in love with the magazine right now and its possibilities.

Thank you friends.
