    Thanks redbirdvintage !

I wanted to add that the beautiful Vintage jumpsuit is from private collection at Artifaktori, accessories and shoes are personal wardrobe and the snake cuffs from redbird. Love when I can bring Vintage to the modern girl (Alena) and have her looking flawless.

redbirdvintage:My Aunt Shirl gave me a snake necklace and bracelet set which I’ve loved for years.  I lent it to the talented d.aMa to use in a shoot with model Alena and the brilliant photographer Kris Rodammer.  Here is their stunning result! xo

“Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who’ve ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don’t need. We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War’s a spiritual war… our Great Depression is our lives. We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won’t. And we’re slowly learning that fact. And we’re very, very pissed off.”
    Fight Club (1999).

What advice would you give other future fashionistas of the world that are hoping to break into the industry?

Be patient. Be kind. And listen. Nothing else matters if you can’t deal with people. They either love or don’t, and that’s not even questioning your talent, but people are different and they love different things. But if you are patient, kind and listen they will pay attention to your work, and you will find your best fit. At the end of the day, they’ve got to depend on great work, not the great name.

Hey! Just wanted to say that your designs look amazing! Just stumbled upon your tumblr, because of the name, d.aMa. I'm from Iceland and the word "dama" in icelandic means a elegant, sophisticated woman. Didn't know if you were aware of this but I though I'd let you know :) Good Luck with everything! Love from Iceland!

Hey Thank you so much. Had no idea d.aMa meant sophisticated woman in Icelandic either..that’s amazing!!!..it means the same in Portuguese (my first language) and they are also the initials of my full name. Good to know that and thanks for the support and love.

“I remember stories of love with a foreigner and stories of artists and flutes and beautiful people. I decided to create all that in my head. And I wake up to all this now. And it’s so damn good. So don’t tell me you don’t believe in stories or fantasies. You’ll be written down on my book of forgotten characters. And your life will be nothing but boring.”

Sometimes we (artists) trade for the benefit of our work. We get together to work for each other. There’s a bit of a risk in working for trade. There’s always the money issue that gets you by the end of the month. But as long as I remember myself and love art I’ll trade anything with any talented artist and anyone that shows me passion. I guess not anything with anyone, you have to find boundaries. And step up whenever you can. It’s your life. And the artist, knowing it’s hard to value the work, needs to understand that there’s always something very true about the process. It’s like what Bob Dylan once said “You learn from a conglomeration of the incredible past - whatever experience gotten in any way whatsoever”. I find myself incredibly hating my work most of the time, but its the pressure of becoming that keeps the smile going. And the smile is also going for the amazing and inspiring talent found along the way. It’s kind of amazing. (Photo by Kris Rodammer, HMU by Lisa Roche, Styling by Amanda Antunes, modeled by Alena)

    McQUEEN’S FINAL COLLECTION

The industry gathered solemnly yesterday at Francois Pinault’s headquarters to view the 15 piece collection that will be his last. As always, he manages to push the envelope (even now) ever so slightly forward by evolving his successful collection from last season with digitally engineered prints that embody the spirit of “Avatar-esque” futurism.

Buyers will be invited to view the entire 160 piece collection at his showroom Thursday, and parent company, PPR has said the line will continue where he left off. Rumors have swirled about bringing Gareth Pugh- who’s most recent collection was coined “the Wizard of Oz meets Predator” by Rick Owens for his stark modernist interpretations. However, Pugh’s people flatly deny that.

“It just doesn’t make sense. James Taylor hasn’t made a meaningful contribution to the world in decades and though I like the Beatles, I feel like they are an easy and lazy choice. The Oscars does things like putting up the stars of twilight to present and giving an omage to horror, but can’t find a contemporary piece of music and a relevant artist to deliver it. It was an obvious paid tie-in to his covers album. It’s all about money. I fall for the hope of good art being appreciated every year, and end up frustrated by the machine.”

    The same wagon

The thing about not having a car is that you get to experience these things. Like hearing a lady telling her daughter “Portuguese spoken in Brazil is fake”. Or someone else saying “You need Jesus in your life”. Or a guy pouring PBR in a mug and drinking like a warrior’s horse. Red line. You know, I don’t mind these things. I kind of like them. I guess it can only be appreciated by some people, or crazy people. I wonder that morality in mankind is not for everybody, preserving morality is much less appreciated. I am to follow these people, not for obligation or inertia…but because we somehow happen to be in the same wagon.

Sometimes I think that dignity will come with the crowd. Thus piteously they play the snare like it’s an endless force. Singing along and making me full of stories. I overheard:

    “Now kiss me dear”.

    What a dusty answer.

“(…)Why, if one wants to compare life to anything, one must liken it to being blown through the Tube at fifty miles an hour landing at the other end without a single hairpin in one’s hair! Shot out at the feet of God entirely naked! Tumbling head over heels in the asphodel meadows like brown paper parcels pitched down a shoot in the post office! With one’s hair flying back like the tail of a race-horse. Yes, that seems to express the rapidity of life, the perpetual waste and repair; all so casual, all so haphazard….”

    suicideblonde:

This afternoon, bohemea and I will be doing our live blogging of the red carpet arrivals of all the lovely ladies (and a few of the gents) for this evening’s Oscars ceremony. Expect lots of “Ohhhh shiny!” and “That is one boring dress, but thanks for trying, honey” and “THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT!”

Unfortunately Lady GaGa won’t be there so we can’t expect anything super awesome and fashion risky/avant garde like Bjork’s memorable swan dress (with egg purse.)
