2012 has been a fantastic year for the label with an acclaimed serie of releases by Marlow, Matt Flores, Nowakowski & label guru Dairmount. We chosed to close the year with a very special project and we are very excited to share it with you. Everything started during an early summer afternoon in San Francisco. Two friends were playing around in a messy studio full of analog gear. The first hours didn’t lead to any inspiration till they decided to take advantage of the old CV-Gate Technology to make drum machines & synths “talk” between each others. The creative sparkle came out of the magic happening between the beloved TR606 and the SH101 and SH09. The 2 friends entered “the zone” for long hours & let their complicity & the randomness factor do the rest. And if you know that the 2 studio freaks we are talking about are none others than the Canadian house legend Fred Everything & Spanish wonderboy Al Velilla, you start to get a fantasy about the monster you are invited to listen today.Dairmount was one of the very first pair of ears to discover it and it didn’t take long to become one of these “instant signings” of the RWAV history. “The randomness factor was really important to create this piece”, explained Fred. “By sending the Gate out to the SH09, we were able to randomize the pattern of the bassline by choosing the notes on the spot while the rhythm of the sequence was kept tight by the 606. The SH101 Sequence (the main sequence) was also randomized live switching the octaves up and down to give it some natural yet unexpected life. By going in these different avenues of creation and adding more layers of synths to the final result, we ended up with a truly original piece” To celebrate this nice piece, the pair decided to call the track Blue Fish as a little tribute to the code name of Fred’s rescued Husky dog who became his new studio member. This release will find a place of choice in both guys discography. After 20 years of production & djing and more than 100 releases & remixes on prestigious labels such as 20:20 Vision, Drumpoet, Freerange, Large, Seasons & his own Lazy Days imprint, founded 5 years ago, Fred is still on top of the game & touring the world intensely. After an acclaimed serie of remixes on labels like Freerange, Fresh Meat, Composite & Komplex De Deep in 2011, Dairmount is back on his own imprint with Dust Devil. Recorded this summer between Gothenburg & Berlin with Nowakowski, the Swedish hotshot of the label, Dust Devil emphasized strongly Dairmount’s love for House music infused of Hip Hop attitude. The motto is clear : reduced number of elements, samples only, maximum impact. Dairmount, who has always been strongly influenced by Hip Hop production techniques, had lots of fun to collaborate with Nowakowski, another strong Hip Hop influenced tweaker. Following a busy dj schedule that brought him in the last 18 months across Scandinavia, US, Turkey, France, Holland & Latvia between others, Dairmount is the true soul & ambassador of the label that he created in 2009. Collecting records since his childhood, he slowly discovered the world of spinning with his early Hip Hop heroes such as Dj Premier & Pete Rock, early records of Acid house and the versatility of Gilles Peterson’s Talkin Loud imprint. As a result of this, he immersed himself in the deepness of the Black music history : Jazz, Latin , Hip Hop, Detroit Techno, House and Afro Funk entered his record collection. In the nineties, he quickly built himself a solid reputation in the underground club circuit that granted him to play at several major events in Benelux including the famous Eskimo nights (before it became a famous label) or big festivals as Dour, 10 Days Off or Axion Beach and extended his dj trips across Europe & overseas alongside prestigious spinners such as Kevin Saunderson, Gilles Peterson, Jazzanova, Rainer Trüby, Derrick May, Mad Mats, Dimitri from Paris, Fred Everything, King Britt, Kirk Di Giorgio, Jimpster or 4hero and opened concerts for performers like Herbie Hancock and St Germain. He also proudly represented Belgium at the 2nd edition of the now world reknown Red Bull Music Academy held in 99 in Berlin. Dairmount contributed during 8 years as one of the main editors of the respected Plastiks magazine in Belgium before founding in 2003 metronomic-family.com, a web portal as a means to share his musical beliefs with a worldwide audience. Overwhelmed by positive feedback of hungry music lovers worldwide, the site managed to create a prolific discovery factor that contributed many upcoming artists & underground labels to reach a wider audience. Known by many as a “man of challenge & initiative”, he moved from his native Brussels in 1999 to explore other countries leading him to live a transatlantic passion for Montreal (where he managed & restyled the legendary Primitive record shop) and landed in Hamburg in 2003. Actively taking part to future developments of the ever-changing music industry, Phil took part to the digital revolution in its early steps and became in 2004 (till present) A&R and label manager of respected labels such as Trusme’s Prime Numbers, Gerd’s 4Lux Black, Soulphiction’s Philpot, Jazzanova’s Sonar Kollektiv, Jimpster’s Freerange, Theo Parrish’s Sound Signature and many others inside the team of the respected digital indie Finetunes. Besides his dedication & work for others, Phil stepped in the studio in 2005 to give birth to his early production projects such as Smiles Ahead (with David Alexander) & Petter & Dairmount (with Ralf Petter) which resulted in remix works for artists as diverse as “ex-Beanfield” Sandboy, swedish prodigies Hird & Yukimi Nagano (from Little Dragon fame) & NYC’s producer Moses McClean on labels like Hinterland (Ger), DNM (Swe) and Still Music (US). With great encouragements and plays from luminaries as Jimpster, Atjazz, Laurent Garnier, Mr Scruff, Sasse or Jazzanova, he caught the virus trying more and more to escape his busy schedule to push his production skills. This led Phil to become Dairmount, his new identity & production moniker and to create his own production unit with his long time friend Marino Berardi (known as Dairmount & Berardi, today on hold) & to the accomplishment of his long time dream, the launch of his own label, Room With A View, in April 2009. Two years ago Dairmount got hooked on the fresh sounds of a young producer/DJ by the name of Martin Nowakowski. The first result of their artistic collaboration was the ‘Reframe EP’, a 4-tracker whose mesmerizing sounds grabbed the attention of quite some dignitaries of the international club scene such as Jimpster, Laurent Garnier, Steve Bug, Gerd and Simbad. Living the A&R to the fullest, Dairmount worked closely with Nowakowski to further develop his vision and sounds. After sophomore EP’s from Art of Tones and Marlow, Room with a View now proudly presents ‘Magenta’, Nowakowski’s follow up to last year’s ‘Reframe’. As a colour, magenta represents the artistic union of the energetic red and the introspective violet, which is demonstrated in the 5 different shades of the artist on this EP. ‘Magenta 1’ is a light-hearted house banger, built around a sexy disco sample, whereas the vibes of ‘Magenta 2’ take us into minor musical territory. ‘Magenta 3’ delivers the very same hypnotizing trademark sounds we were introduced to through Nowakowski first RWAV EP . ‘Magenta 4’ represents a deep bounce, with intriguing bleeps and cut-up vocals. Marlow is one of these music makers who takes the time to shape up his precious output. It has been nearly two years since his widely acclaimed ‘Put Off’ EP on RWAV made a strong impact on all kinds of connoisseurs. The EP soon became a favourite of the RWAV fans and beyond. 2011 has been an amazing year for Room With A view with tons of love & rewarding experiences. Here is the 5th episode of the successful Midnight Circle Lullabies serie of 2011 and latest release of the year. But don’t be misled, this one is another solid collection of tracks compiled with love by label honcho Dairmount. It has been a long wait but the much sought after Satellites track of Motor City Drum Ensemble is finally coming on wax, after being played by everyone from Deetron to Will Saul. Considered by Danilo himself, as one of his most personal tracks ever, the joint recorded in 2009 is a masterpiece of slomo timeless moody House Music. Coming as A2 is Pet In My Sea, a very special track displaying the amazing talent of the latest signing of the RWAV camp. Nowakowski is the young Swedish talent that Dairmount developped in secrecy in 2011 who released already on the Catz’n'Dogz imprint Pets. Definitely a rising start for 2012. On the flipside, Marlow offers a state of the art remix work by delivering a beautiful rendition of State 808, a track produced by xXxXx, the duo of Commixx & Knixx, known for their remarkable collaboration on Marlow’s anthem Put Off. The track has been licensed from the German label Be Bonkers who released it digitally but Dairmount loved it & played it so much that he wanted to give a chance to vinyl lovers to get it on wax. Damn right isn’t it? And finally, Marino Berardi provides a very valuable contribution with Best Intention, a classic track of the label, often compared to the sound esthetics of Bradock & Herbert, who has been a prime favorite of people as diverse as Joris Voorn, Milton Jackson or Trevor Jackson…

Back from a little summer break, Dairmount has once again compiled four killers of the highest order to satisfy the most demanding. Considered as one of the most played summer tracks by Resident Advisor and after being charted by everyone from The Revenge to DJ Sneak, Art Of Tones' "Too much" is finally available on black wax. The track has arrived just in time to announce the brand new EP "La Débandade" due for a late September release. It has been worth the wait but the follow-up to the huge success of “The World As I Live It EP” is finally there. Long running stalwart of the global House scene for nearly 20 years, Ludovic Llorca has brought his work at the forefront with labels such as F Communications & 2020 Vision. In 2009, he lived an creative renaissance by uniting with Room with A View, finding with the guidance of Dairmount, a new genuine inspiration shelter. Several tracks started to appear on the label in the Perspectives serie and his first EP ” The World As I Live It” was released in march 2010 combining a huge critical & popular acclaim. Literally everyone played tracks of the EP and it is still a firm favorite of many one year after. This spring, Art Of Tones contributed with “Too Much” to the 5th instalment of the Perspectives serie. This one became again one of the most played track of the summer according to Resident Advisor. Dairmount selected 4 amazing tracks for this third episode of the Midnight Circle lullabies vinyl serie. Perfectly in time with the early summer, this second part of the 5th Perspectives episode created & compiled by Dairmount, is focusing on a delicate selection of slomo house & musical explorations. Dairmount chosed also this release to put it in the light some new talents around. Already part of the RWAV family, Berlin’s Paskal is teaming up with his brother Urban Absolutes to present Twice, an amazing slomo monster that damaged already many dancefloors worldwide. “After so many years of knowing Phil and the crew, it was an honour for me tackle the Room With A View catalogue and have a go at creating a mix from my favorite moments on the label. Since the first time i met Phil in the early 2000’s, we talked about music with such a passion that i knew the day he would start a label it would be well done and with a lot of thoughts & care. So it was very exciting to be able to create a mix with this great bunch of tracks at hand. To have the chance to release my own music as well on the label (One For Oscar EP released in june 2010) meant a lot to me, the family bond is there and it’s rock solid since day one. It was hard to pick out my faves in the amazing productions of the fairly impressive catalogue, thus i decided to choose the tunes i’ve played most on my recent tours as dj. There a few new ones like Marlow’s killer “Being With You” and the dark “Love Unltd 4AM” by Dairmount & Berardi, as well as a new production from myself titled “Eagle Eyes” coming exclusively with this compilation. I discovered Marlow 10 years ago when he was one of the main artists of Leipzig's Moon Harbour and always appreciated his unique sense of deepness. This is what brought me to invite him to take part to the RWAV adventure one year & a half ago, when the label was not even started. Marlow has been one of the first artists to join the label family and the vision of this very personal EP has been a long time in shaping. In between, he recorded the remarkable Fonk & Digga tracks for our Perspective serie in 2009 and released Look Over Feel feat Mo'Joe on Dennis Ferrer's Objektivity. He recently produced an exclusive track called Donny at the request of Matthias Tanzmann to take part to the 10th year birthday compilation of Moon Harbour. In my eyes, there is no doubt that Marlow is still a huge and pretty underrated talent and I'm positive that this EP will make him justice considering the strong personality contained in every of these tracks and the world class production they display. Being a big Black Music lover, it has been a very natural development for him to dig in his vinyl collection to find the cohesion of mood on this EP, tainted of dusty Soul vinyls. Being a man of collaboration (on production duties for the Pentatones & Matthias Kaden's full length), it has been no surprise to see him bringing his friends ComixXx & Knixx for a little dance. The title track Put Off is a perfect example of this and My Little Acid Sheep is the result of a spontaneous late night jam in Berlin in ComixXx's bedroom lab. Fans of Slomo House will be delighted to discover So What that proved to be a secret weapon already in the box of Jimpster and The Revenge to name a few. As many labels today, we are no exception to receive tons of demos on a weekly basis and God knows how hilarious & painful this exercise can sometimes be. Nevertheless, some little miracles sometimes happen to remind us that indeed music can speak from itself and that people recognize each other through it. Sebastien San saw in our label his home of choice for his new collaborative work with Aaron Carl and it didn’t take me long to be touched by his message & the music. I was already well aware of the work of the Northern French producer (in previous years on Gigolo and particularly on Planet E & Rush Hour) who always displayed a strong Detroit heritage in his own Techno productions. The man has never hidden his fascination & love for the Motor City but this time, Sebastien seemed to take more a Deep House direction while maintaining his personal Detroit influenced soundscapes in the palette. Another key fact of this work is the vocal collaboration of Aaron Carl who signed here sober & heartfelt lyrics delivered in a perfect way. For those amongst you that would have never heard about the man, Mr Carl is one of the precious artists out of the Detroit scene of the last 15 years who started under the wings of Mike “UR” Banks on Soul City and left his trace on prestigious labels as Metroplex, Ovum, Millions Of Moments and more recently on Crosstown Rebels (with Dyed Soundorom) and his own Wallshaker imprint. The fruit of this collaboration is definitely not a peaktime track but more of the kind to be remembered in the building of the night or in the early hours of the morning. One year ago, just in the following of our 2nd release, one email landed in the RWAV mailbox praising about our label start & the excitement it provided. This email was including some unreleased tracks and signed by the hand of one of my favorite French producers of the last 15 years, Ludovic Llorca. Beyond the great honor & surprise, this became the beginning of a deep artistic & human connection materialised by the appearance of his Carl Craig tribute, Terres Conquises & Philterism in my Perspectives serie in 2009. It was very clear from the start that these tracks would be the beginning of a long term collaboration on his Art Of Tones project. The EP presented today is the fruit of Llorca’s inventive vision of what retro-futuristic Black rooted club music should be today. This 3 tracker is a perfect example of what House music can offer at its best when roots, history & identity are not forgotten on the way. The title track The World as I Live it is an hypnotic loopy builder that never stops building and create a unique climax, a kind of vitaminised version of Mr Parrish’s Ugly Edits. The track has proved to be an instant favorite of many House heavyweights such as Tony Humphries, Kink, Mike Monday or D’julz. Breaking Bad is offering an irresistible & more musical version of the Disco Funk rooted sound. It is a genuine pleasure for me to open 2010 with a solo release of my close friend & studio partner MARINO BERARDI, as I got the chance to follow his musical path for more than a decade now... Many dj's graced us of overwhelming feedback about our recent common output as DAIRMOUNT & BERARDI in 2009 but very few people know that Marino was one of the very first European producers to appear on prestigious American labels such as Francois Kevorkian's Wave Music or Josh Wink's Ovum... In the fast moving scenes of today, Marino could appear as a "veteran" with more than 15 years of djing & production under his belt and he looks firmly firmly ready to push things forward in 2010. Best Intention is one of these special joints that seem made to spice up your sets for the right moment. At the intersection of quirky Deep House & Dub Techno boundaries, the track reveals the underlying power of dusty samples to create an 11 minutes hypnosis that will surprise you by its uplifting virtues. I fell in love instantly with the track the first time Marino played me the demo version and I knew that it would become a very unique dancefloor moment for the ones among us liking it dirty, moody & dubby. It is always very important to provide interesting "perspectives" of an exciting original work and the 2 gentlemen that reworked Best Intention didn't fail to deliver excellent personal versions. DAVE PEZZNER, the Seattle sound wizard recognised for his work on Freerange, OM Records or Ghostly International, signed what he declared himself as " one of his most intimate re-interpretations to date". For me, this amazing 10 minutes version is close to the fantasy of a late night lullaby that could have been composed collectively by Steve Reich, Morgan Geist & Charles Webster. The second perspective is coming courtesy of CHRISTO, a new talent from Derby, discovered by Atjazz. The man is planned for promising things this year with a release on RWAV and the launch of his own Superficially Deep imprint very soon. Contributing to a vibrant Hamburg tradition of inspired electronic imprints such as Dial, Pokerflat, Smallville or Diynamic, Room With A View can be described as the “personal musical fantasy” of its founder and A&R Phil “Dairmount” Darimont, a fantasy deeply rooted in his early DJ days when House & Techno were colliding in a big musical patchwork of sounds, sweat & dust. "Our ways crossed 3 years ago during one of my stay in Gothenburg", remembers Dairmount about his first meeting with Joel Alter. "Our common friend Christoffer Berg introduced us and we spent a very chilled summer day together, discussing & listening to some of his works in progress. I brought back some of them on a cdr and this was the start of an artistic exchange that shaped up in the years following... It was always clear to me that Joel would be a special personality I would be happy to introduce to listeners the day I would found my own label..." “It took me only a few minutes to realise that André is one of these rare individuals that make you feel instantly “at home”… I understood quickly then that the music I discovered earlier on labels like Moods & Groove or Simple, was a real mirror of his soul…” It is indeed on a cold day of that 2008 Berlin autumn that André & myself had a tea time & decided to work together. André decided spontaneously to record fresh material especially for the label, more than 6 months before our first release. This says a lot about the common trust that was born that day, much before the hype surrounded the man. The result of this saw the light some weeks later in the form of Vehemence Of Silence, a track of indeniable power which breathes long years of djing & Berlin afterhours as much as uncovering close impressions of André’s emotional outcome. This is what made me feel that track like a whisper to my body & soul and what makes me so proud to release it today… More than 10 months down the line, André improved it, tested it on the floor till a final club listening session in the middle of the Berghain dancefloor where we both knew it was ready to be shared… This special track needed of course outstanding alternative perspectives and it didn’t take me long to propose my old friends Martin Iveson & Danilo Plessow (both amongst André’s favorites) to give it their magic : Atjazz managed to bring the track in subtle afro territories twisted with early Prescription echoes while Motor City Drum Ensemble’s version translates an unexpected Techno jam reminiscent of the best early Soma days. Like most of our artists, the young French producer ART BLEEK shares a rich musical background strongly rooted in the Black Music family tree & explores electronic club music through a unique touch & vision. This release is a very special one for us… Indeed, ROSKOW KRETSCHMANN has been for years one of the music makers that surprised us constantly and teased our appetite, displaying his rich musical background inside of projects like Jazzanova, Kosma or SYGAIRE… The tracks selected by DAIRMOUNT (after hours hanging out in Roskow’s sound lab over the years) are genuinely outstanding in his entire discography. They sound like no others and reveal rare aspects of his “musical persona”. Our third release is introducing to you more intensely the musical personality of Dairmount, founder & A&R of the label. Longtime independent music activist born in Belgium (formerly known as Philarmonix), Dairmount is a natural born “freestyler” who embraced anything soulful & groovy since the late 80's, playing & travelling the world for 15 years. Hamburg is the city where he settled down in the last 6 years and 2009 marks the accomplishment of his personal dream to found Room With A View, shelter of his musical fantasies. Friendship & challenge are two values that define Phil pretty well so it is no surprise that musical collaborations & versatility tightly express his musical approach and personal ethic. After displaying Bass-Ment Tale, an old school house tribute produced with his partner in crime Marino Berardi, on the first episode of the Perspectives serie, Dairmount is presenting Subakuatik Blues on his first EP. Recorded in 2007 with his good friend Ralf Petter, an “old cat” of the Hamburg music scene, this track managed to capture the essence of these great studio sessions : Phil’s natural obsession to create hybrid club material & Ralf’s amazing engineering skills matching perfectly to create this sub-aquatic dream that resulted in the track name. Lost in the world of analogue synths of Ralf’s studio, they created a 9 minutes odyssey crossing the lines between Deep House, Disco futurism & Detroit influences topped by a surprising “ravy” breakdown. Phil approached naturally 2 of his longtime favorite producers to give their own perspectives of the timeless feel of the original : Russ Gabriel, who Phil has always admired for the depth of his output on Ferox, Planet E or his own Soul On Wax, has signed a beautiful version of the track. Extremely subtle & hypnotic, this remix is a true blessing & a great pride. Following the overwhelming feedback about our first release, we proudly present to you the RENAISSANCE EP by Berlin's HONESTY (known for his work with Daniel Paul as Slope on Sonar Kollektiv).
