Giethoorn, Holland: A Town With No Roads

Founded in the 13th Century CE, Giethoorn is referred to as the Venice of the North, due to the fact that the town has no roads for cars, and uses canals (whose lengths total to almost five miles) with small boats to get around. There are over 50 wooden bridges over the canals, and many of the farmhouse-style homes are centuries old.

Just saw your picture of the snow, and read the caption about NYC not having an actual winter. Had to laugh--sitting in Florida right now enjoying a consistently 80 degree January. We had people sunbathing by the pool on New Year's Eve! Hope you're at least getting some cold weather.

Cold is no problem, we do that well-enough… I just figure that if it IS going to be cold, might as well be the full experience :)

That said, some warmth and sunshine wouldn’t hurt either I’m sure. Enjoy
