About
- Chris Kalcov is a sound engineer in London, UK. Having worked as the producer of the 3G Sounds Podcast, highly-rated British radio podcast on iTunes - receiving recent endorsements by Audible.com, Rode Microphones and LG Electronics for audio quality - he now studies at the University of Lancaster. With past tuition from Jazz saxophonist Mornington Lockett and a Cambridge Pre-U D3 in Music, he specialises in studio and location recording, mastering, music transcription and live sound design. He has an obsession with microphones, is extremely critical about mic pres, appreciates a good pie and also has no idea why he's referring to himself in the third person.I'm also a session alto saxophonist in my spare time, having either performed or engineered in numerous venues such as The Luxe at Spitalfields, St. James' Spanish Place, Cadogan Hall, Royal Festival Hall and The Royal Albert Hall; 606 and Ronnie Scott's Jazz Clubs.Experienced in Apple Logic Pro, Adobe Audition and Sibelius 7 for musical notation, and the odd bit of Avid Pro Tools, Adobe Photoshop and Apple Final Cut. People say listening to skipping tape-heads and Logic Pro loop regions over and over again has made my hearing pretty good, but hey, I just like transcribing and arranging things I listen to.

I don't know really what to say, except to extend a huge thanks to the team, the warm radio-voice of Matt O'Keeffe, creator Seb King and the genius that is Edward T, the 3G Sounds Podcast has been a 4-5 year project that over the years has been an absolute joy to take role of producer for. I'm probably going to miss fiddling with the knobs and doing repetitive HTML updates on the website and Facebook, but it was all part of the fun.I'd like to also thank Rode Microphones, American Soda, Belvoir Fruit Drinks and LG Electronics for helping to promote the podcast to where it is today. We couldn't have done it without you.So, all I have left to say is good luck to the guys in their future, and does anyone want to buy two radio microphone arms?chris@3gsounds

So this is it folks. After 47 episodes the gang are parting their own ways for now. Chris sets to tear down the studio, Ed doesn't act as though it's the end at all, we review Guarana Antarctica and Fanta Furu Furu Shaker, get the low down on TV, 3D Films and the .xxx domain in Tech, as well as that usual favourite of Top 100.

I have to admit as a massive root beer fan I was massively looking forward to birch beer. I'm all for weird plant extracts as long it adds to the end product. However, I'm sorry to say that it just didn't taste any different. The carbonation and sweetness are perfect especially ice cold. There's an overriding medicinal flavour which is not off-putting but which is so strong it lingers. That is the sign of a truly well made drink. Maybe if you think about trees while you drink it the flavour comes out more strongly. Maybe I've just reviewed too many root beers. As a root beer this is one of the finest that you can buy. Get it from americansoda today. 8/10
