A concept made for the module Advanced Interface Design at Hyper Island. KarmaTech.
Pretty awesome possibilities as rfid has so often been used in relation to a campaign / event which is rather limiting. This is much more part of you, wherever you go, like social filters and social probes attached to your feet.
mmm, what font would your car be? Fun little experiment (and free font) with the Toyota iQ

Would creatives be fighting for the latest esoteric/trendy technique just so they could win an award knowing that if the ordinary consumers didn’t understand the ad they’d lose their house?

Fractal Artforms of Nature
The nineteen century German biologist Ernst Haeckel is famous for his fantastically illustrated book Artforms of Nature. The copyright for this book from 1904 has now expired and thanks to Wikimedia Commons it is available for everyone to appreciate.
Haekel’s artistic interpretation of the biological forms he studied have a clarity of symmetry and detail that has been a source of inspiration for many artists and engineers over the years. They provide the perfect subject matter for my Photoshop plugin Pixel Bender Fractal Explorer.
Reverse of Volume RG by Yasuaki Onishi is on display at Rice Gallery through June 24 in Houston, TX.
About the project:
In his “reverse of volume” installations, Onishi uses the simplest materials – translucent plastic sheeting, strings of black glue, and fishing line – to create monumental forms that resemble mountains or clouds floating in space. His process of “casting the invisible” involves draping the sheeting over objects, which are removed to leave only their impressions.Onishi views this process of “reversing” sculpture to be a meditation on the nature of the negative space, or void, left behind.
In 2008 our Friend Natasha Laflyn had an aneurism and fell into a coma. Four and a half years later, against all the odds, she is starting to make a rapid recovery. This film was made to promote an art auction to help create the funds to get her back home with her family. 100’s of artworks were donated and the event, surrounded by so much love, has reached the goal of getting Natasha back home. There is strength of the human soul and goodness out there, you just have to give it your all and miracles really do happen. So wonderful.
The film was directed by Hersha Patel and produced by Indeed Productions. (by johnoverity)
