Icycle, an annual winter bike race in Toronto, is definitely not an Olympic-caliber event, nor is it as strict on rules. But if your idea of a good time is drilling screws into your bike tires and riding full out in a circuit against fearless bike couriers, then Icycle is for you. Did I mention you do this on ice?

this is how i lose clothing.
- Will: did my sweater turn up?
- Allyssia: yeah, i'm wearing it now as payback.
- Will: you're allowed to keep it for six months as collateral damage.
- Allyssia: omg deal.

another glimpse of what could be (in reference to this)
this video is segmented into four connecting parts:
- school
- travel/mobility
- work
- home
although the idea behind the previous video (with the tablet pc’s) is gaining momentum now, this vision isn’t really a hard one to achieve as well (it’s set in 2018 or so). i think the problem isn’t so much that there’s too many products, or that they’re too complex to create, the problem lies in that these products don’t work well with each other in some environments that require a somewhat ubiquitous nature of information.
so in all this, you might ask “why care?”, i think this dormant fascination started when reading 2001: A Space Odyssey a few years back, and thinking of the technologies that were to exist by now. it brought out a certain frustration, a kind of “why the fuck haven’t we reached this point yet?” but as technologies grow, their visions (like the one posted above) don’t seem so far-fetched as the ones from the 50’s or 60’s.

Whenever the Lost logo appears and zooms out of the screen, the edges of the letters aren’t rendered properly and look cut off, am i the only one who notices this? you can see it here.

this video demonstrates the capabilities of the tablet pc (named Origami). it’s a bit dated (like 2003 or so) but it is cool to watch. i find that microsoft makes some of the coolest stuff out there, they’re just horrible at telling people about it.
i kinda have a strange fascination watching videos like this. seeing how technology should contribute in our day to day functions, but with the advent of facebook/twitter/youtube, it’s kinda all gone downhill and these objects have ended up distracting us, rather then helping us. but it still is nice to see and ask yourself “What if?”

“From daydreams on the road there was no waking. He plodded on. He could remember everything of her save her scent. Seated in a theater with her beside him leaning forward listening to the music. Gold scrollwork and sconces and the tall columnar drapes at either side of the stage. She held his hand in her lap and he could feel the tops of her stockings through the thin stuff of her summer dress. Freeze this frame. Now call down your cold and your dark and be damned”

you ever just have a song just pop into your head? even when you’ve never thought about it in a while, it just comes into your head and stays. (kinda like it wants you to listen to it)

Over the past few weeks, I cut back my posting simply because I found that I spent too much time on tumblr, and less on important stuff (like school and work). I’m also a firm believer of what tumblr was intended for; an online notepad, rather than a complete tell-all journal.

.. is part of a series on the American desert that Misrach has been working on for 35 years. “It’s a long night exposure, where the moon is lighting up the mountains in the distance,” he says. “I shot it on an 8x10 camera, so the quality is really beautiful, and you can see star trails going through the sky.”
