ABOUT!
- After an amazing 2010/2011 year, the Canadian Asian International Students' Association (CAISA) is already getting ready for another exciting, action-packed school year. With over 300 registered members and the largest student-run fashion show in Ontario, CAISA has maintained its position as one of the largest and most active student organizations at the University of Western Ontario.
  
  Over the past few years, CAISA has continued its tradition of providing members with a wide range of social, athletic, academic, and charity-based events. Some of our annual marquee events in the past have included Cultural Dinner, Semi-formal, Coffee House, charity days, and themed bar nights. We are looking forward to welcoming members to these events again this year and are also moving forward with both new and improved initiatives. These initiatives include, but are not limited to, the launch of the CAISA Alumni Directory and further development of CAISA's website and social media presence. CAISA is a club that takes great pride in providing members with a strong sense of community and belonging, and we hope that these initiatives, along with existing offerings, will help bring students and members of the extended London community together.
  
  In addition to our core activities, CAISA is also pleased to announce that we will be hosting our 14th annual CAISA Fashion Show on March 24, 2012 at the Western Fair District with all proceeds going to the Children's Health Foundation (CHF). The Children's Health Foundation is a charity dedicated to raising and granting funds to support specialized health care and research for children and youth. Over the life of CAISA Fashion Show, we have raised over $95,000 for CHF; in 2011, alone, we were able to raise $20,000 for this cause. As a result of our work, we have also had the honour of having one of the Medical Instruction rooms named after the club. CAISA is proud to support charitable organizations within our community and beyond and we remain committed to improving the lives of all those around us.
  
  CAISA continues to seek opportunities to enrich the lives of our members and those of organizations and individuals in the communities around us. We invite you to share this vision with us.

  CAISA maintains an online exam bank as a valuable resource for our members. At our annual event, Professional's Night, speakers from Law, Medicine, Dental, and the Richard Ivey School of Business are invited to share their insights on their academic and professional experiences. This year, CAISA is looking forward to launching our CAISA Alumni Directory as a way for members, old and new, as a resource for members to expand their CAISA network beyond university life.
  
  Athletics
  
  CAISA organizes and runs a variety of sports teams for our members, taking care of team registration and player management. Our teams participate in intramural leagues and various club tournaments. We also organize our own charity fundraisers including our Dodge Ball and 3-on-3 Basketball tournaments. Besides sports, we recognize the importance of leading a healthy, active lifestyle as a student and seek to help members with monthly tips and our "CAISA Works Out" initiative.
  
  Community
  
  CAISA is constantly seeking volunteer opportunities for members who are interested in giving back to the local London and UWO student community. In the past, we have worked with Ark Aid Soup Kitchen, Hutton House, and the Boys' and Girls' Club of London. CAISA's leadership in community involvement also includes our participation in school-wide initiatives such as the Relay for Life and Shinerama. Finally, our annual charity fashion show has been able to raise over $95,000 for the Children's Health Foundation over the life of our 13-year old production.

  Each year, CAISA hosts cultural dinners, semi-formals, barbeques, and charity parties. With the recent re-launch of our website and social media pages, CAISA acts as a premium hub for networking and meeting new people.

  Dodge, Dip, Duck, Dive, and Dodge. Think you got what it takes to be a true Dodgeball hero? Let's test your skills at CAISA's first Dodgeball tournament of the year. We get all sorts of competition at the tournament and it’s a great way to meet new friends. Come join us Saturday at 1. Perfect way to get over that hangover from Friday night ;) I better see all you Boys AND Girls on Saturday!

  Finally here's a quick bit of information about an upcoming Defining Moments workshop hosted by one of our very own exec, Justine Lee! Let's show some CAISA love and support her!
  Date and Time: Sunday, November 27 · 1:00pm - 2:30pm
  Location: Wemble/Vitali Lounge at King's College
  Hosted with USC Ethnocultural Services. Defining Moments is a TakingITGlobal (TIG) initiative and TIG is a national charity organization using social media for social change. As the world's largest community for young people interested in social change, their mission is to empower youth and they have teamed up with Canadian Heritage to host this awesome project! It's a free workshop and snacks will be provided.
  
  Defining Moments is a national digital media arts and citizenship project aimed at bringing together the perspectives of youth across the country on their personal and national identity. 15-30 students will have the opportunity to participate in a 1 1/2 hour workshop that will facilitate discussion and dialogue. After the contest, students will be encouraged to submit an art piece of any medium to express takeaways from the workshop (artistic ability and background are not required to participate in this project) and a travelling art exhibit of selected works will circulate in the summer of 2012.

  I hope everyone had an awesome Thanksgiving! I know school has been picking up for most of you but do not fret, CAISA has some great events lined up.
  
  Here's your breakdown of what's going on!
  
  This Wednesday, October 18th aka tomorrow evening is our Cultural Dinner!
  5PM - 10PM - $25
  We here at CAISA are mildly obsessed with food…but I mean who’s not?!?! Come join us tomorrow night as we have a delicious feast at our proud sponsor restaurant Chinese BBQ!  Then after all that goodness we’re heading to our proud sponsor bubble tea house Tea Shop 168! BBQ Pork and BBT. You can’t go wrong! We’re also hooking you guys up with a free lift from and back to campus. Tickets are $25 and are going to be sold at CAISA booth! Come get your tickets quick cause there's only two days left to buy! Great way to socialize and meet a bunch of nice people. Also, you get to meet all of the great exec and kidCAISA. ;)
  
  Come join us at Silhouettes @ Up on Carling  this Saturday, CAISA's first bar night of the year, always an unforgettable night! Tickets are 5 dollars and are being sold starting tomorrow at booth.   2) CAISA CULTURAL DINNER on Wednesday, October 19^th 2011 from 5PM-10PM!!! - $25.
  Oh My God!!! Yes, we here at CAISA are mildly obsessed with food…but I mean who’s not?!?!
  Come join us as we have a delicious feast at our proud sponsor restaurant Chinese BBQ! Then after all that goodness we’re heading to our proud sponsor bubble tea house Tea Shop 168!
  BBQ Pork and BBT. You can’t go wrong!
  We’re also hooking you guys up with a free lift from campus. Tickets are $25 and are going to be sold at CAISA booth! We have very limited spots and it’s a cute little field trip that you’re not going to want to miss! Best Wednesday ever!
  
  CAISA will be holding booth this Tuesday October 4^th till Thursday October 6^th in the UCC.
  We will be at the tables beside Williams and Subway. All of the Exec will be wearing CAISA shirts so that you can find us easily. Come by and ask us as many questions as you like, pick up tickets for Cultural Dinner and just drop by to hang out. We would really appreciate your company!

  Hope everyone had a fantastic summer and welcome back to Western! The CAISA team is stoked to get things going this year and we have some really great events lined up! We’ve got a new face to CAISA this year so we’re taking what’s worked in the past and throwing in a lot of new! Of course we’re bringing back the Cultural Dinners, Coffee House and the notorious CAISA Fashion Show, but we have some brand spanking new events that we’re excited to share with you.
  
  On top of that, we’re really trying to step up our game and provide some greater benefits to our members this year. Hold onto your membership cards cause its going to give you some great new discounts from our sponsors and also now at our events! CAISA Card=DISCOUNTS. Very Naiiiice!
