Top Scaglia Blog Post #1 goes to a video compilation of my girls over one weekend. Keeping the camera close to you at all times can produce some unique moments when working with kids. My girls always end up in a fight or two throughout any weekend and being there to film a fight always produces great footage (yea i'm bad…).
Equipment used for this short film:
-Nikon D90
-85mm 1.8F
-20mm 2.8F
-Final Cut Pro
With over five years worth of blog posts the following post was the second most viewed.
It was a simple picture with no words.
The response from this post surprised the heck out of me. A friend from my church asked me to take pictures of her kids and after I posted the results, emails started coming in from other people wanting pictures of their kids….
Top Blog Post #4 was a sudden shock as we sent this message to a hospital bed in Houston Texas. In that bed was my good friend Jim Munroe preparing for his first large dosage of chemotherapy.
Jim was experiencing pain in his leg the previous week when he and his wife were visiting us Colorado. After he left and went back to his home in Texas, he went to the doctor and was told that he had the most aggressive form of Leukemia. After finding out about this, Marchelle and I felt helpless to help since we were here in Colorado and he was in Texas. So with just a few days before Christmas, we invited his closest Colorado friends over to our house to record a video message of encouragement to him.
Early Christmas morning we posted this video and gave him a call. I will never forget that phone call as he watched the video. Suffice to say we all were crying….
Years later, Jim has made a full recovery after a bone marrow transplant and has used this story to effect thousands of college students around the country. You can see more of his work HERE.
Wow it's been well over 5 years of blogging here at scaglia.org. I started this blog after the birth of my youngest girl, Reece. The blog's original intention was to archive memories of raising our kids.
To celebrate this small milestone, this week I will be highlighting the most popular blog posts over the past five years.
So with that, below is top blog post #5!
- May 4, 2009 - A Short Round of Moments -
Thank you all for your kind emails and phone calls the past few months and yes everything is alright, I just needed a break from this blog and I am very humbled that you all have continued to stop by for new updates.
In regard to my abrupt absence from the Scaglia blog---->After 5 years of blogging along with approaching the 1,000 blog post (this post will be 995), I had to take a step back and realign my time spent with this creative outlet.
After several months of focusing on other things in my life (and losing 30 pounds!), I am ready to implement some changes to this blog.
Starting this coming Monday (June 6th), this blog will be celebrating the top 5 posts from the past 5 years. At the end of the week, the blog will be changing to something else! (<-----this is good!)
In the meantime….below is a little video from the Scaglia adventures of this past weekend.
Enjoy!
Brian
I was listening to this adventure yesterday on NPR and to my surprise I found this video below of the actual underground expedition.
