Netflix, here I come.
We Live In Public finally comes out on DVD today. I cannot express enough how much ass this documentary kicks. I consider myself a pretty versed in internet history/culture/ and all around web fuckery, but the stuff I saw in this movie just made my head spin. I guess I had no idea what was really going on. Most of the action the takes place over ten years ago, in a time when we were just beginning to figure out what it means to live our lives online, in view of thousands of people on our blogs or webcams. This doc is a cautionary tale about the loss of privacy, about what it means to put too much of your life online, about how going too far too fast can sometimes be too much. The most frightening thing about all these tales - and this documentary is just one of many - is that in ten years time we really haven’t learned anything about the perils of over-sharing, and more hilariously, we just don’t care.
Great movie, go check it out.

I want.
I got a Zeo a few days ago and it’s pretty fascinating!
You wear a headband with a doodad that reads your brain’s electrical patters through your forehead, and it logs what “mode” your brain was in throughout the night. Then you upload the data to their website and look at the graphs to see how you slept. “Hmm, I only got an hour of REM sleep last night, I wonder why?”
Kind of crazy that they can do that … seems very futuristic. I feel like self-monitoring tools will keep getting more popular. It’s certainly more efficient than therapy…

Probably the most consistently awesome podcast I’ve listened to in a really long time. You should probably subscribe. Bonus attack…just realized that Geologist from Animal Collective guest DJs on episode 5, “Outback Whack Off.” Really sick stuff.

Here’s how it works.
We spend most of our time on “important + urgent” and “not important + not urgent” things. Like work, or watching television. It’s the “important + not urgent” things that we need to give more priority. These are the things that you love but have no pressure to act on.
Set this image as your desktop. Clutter it all up, make a huge mess, save everything you ever want to look at on your desktop. Then organize your files appropriately.
Every time you open a file from the “important + urgent” or “non important + non urgent” quadrants, look at everything you’ve got waiting around that’s “important + non urgent”. - February 19, 12:29 AM
