Have you ever tried black rice? We simply love it. It's one of our favourite rice dishes, it's so versatile! We fell in love with it the first time we tried it, many years ago in a tiny Mediterranean village. Not only does it look incredible but it combines two of our favourite elements: vegetables and sea fruits. Isn't it perfect? Besides, it has a great advantage: flexibility. It can be
One of dad’s favourite expressions is “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”, so you can imagine there’s always a big bowl full of apples in our family kitchen. Apples are awesome, they’re delicious, healthy, there’s a ton of varieties… it’s a great fruit! But we're sure some of you are not members of the “Fruit-Lovers Club”, are we right? Don’t worry, with this recipe you’ll also
Since we discovered this recipe in my dear Jamie Oliver's book, we've cooked this recipe every single weekend! (or almost). It's addictive!! Well, you may wonder, 'what's so special about it?'. In fact, there're a few things but above all: cinnamon. It's surprising- at least we were surprised! - to find a pasta dish with tuna, tomato, onion, basil - pretty normal so far - cinnamon,
Whether you live near the Atlantic or not, here you are a delicious mouthful of the ocean! A beautiful combination of clams, king prawns, mussels and squids with Galician white wine and gluten-free pasta, is there a better way to taste the Atlantic? Start the new year with a boost of iodine!! Happy 2013!! Ingredients (4 servings) 350g rice penne (gluten-free) 5 small ripe tomatoes
Croquettes are one of the best Spanish appetizers (or starters) you can find. They are simply delicious: crispy outside but creamy and consistent inside. What? Creamy and consistent at the same time? Yes, that is the key of a good croquette. The most common are ham croquettes, but you can prepare them with anything you like: spinach, chicken, mushrooms, cod, prawns... Last week we tried some
As you know, we love Jamie Oliver and this is his recipe of Beef Wellington with ground beef. We like this recipe for several reasons: it's lighter thanks to all the vegetables it includes, it's much easier to eat and we needn't worry too much about the beef being overcooked. Are you ready to give your menu a British twist? Ingredients 1 puff pastry (fresh or frozen) 500gr
We love fish, don't you? The inspiration for this recipe came from Elena Arzak and her recent award as world's best female chef. Last week, on a radio interview when asked about a recipe she chose hake because "almost any sauce suits hake". Would we resist the temptation of preparing such beautiful fish? Of course not, as everybody knows "the only way to resist temptation
An Apple a Day keeps the Doctor Away. You know the saying, right? And why don't we eat an apple a day in the delicious shape of these light and healthy dairy-free muffins? I'm serious! They're extremely light, my recipe does not include a single drop of animal fat, just 3 tbsp of healthy extra-virgin olive oil, so there's no excuse! They are very easy to prepare, they're delicious, and...
This is one of the traditional desserts we bake in Galicia during Carnival. It's one of the most celebrated feasts over there and, as usual, feast means tons of delicious traditional dishes! Filloas are similar to crêpes but much better, ha,ha... They are thinner and lighter (especially our lactose-free version!) and, of course, more delicious! There are several recipes but this
This is a different version to the traditional hummus recipe. It's fresher and lighter thanks to the avocado, so why don't you try it? Autumn has come and we're starting to feel the cold weather, that's why we've decided to indulge ourselves with some extra vitamin C. Is there a better way to face the change of season? Oranges are perfect this month, so we bought some of the best to prepare some delicious orange muffins with a touch of dark chocolate (we love the combination orange+chocolate!). Do you fancy a delicious
Depressing rainy day in Madrid... so we need to cheer up, right? Let's prepare some nice special pasta dish! For some time now, we've wanted to do some dish with truffle and.. today is the day! Yesterday we bought some delicious special mushrooms (it's the perfect season!), why not add some truffle? Oh, yes! Mushrooms, truffle, some nice pasta, and.. the special ingredient (note it down!) is
A few weeks ago we brought - from the Atlantic coast - a beautiful fresh basil plant to the 'Spanish Midlands', i.e., dry and very warm weather even in September (it's been crazy...). You guessed it, our dear basil is feeling 'down' and that's why we decided to give an honorable ending to its existence. So, what would be the best recipe to fulfill that objective? Pesto sauce. Why?
We're back! Actually, we have been back in MadCity for a few weeks but we haven't had much time to cook. Sure you understand, right? This September is being much more difficult for almost everyone over here.. But let's enter the kitchen and forget about all the problems with a boost of energy, what do you think? We've been quite 'plof' lately, so we need tons of energy to cheer up and carry on

We have a weakness for dark chocolate, the darker the better. 90% cocoa is our favourite, slightly bitter and delicious. Besides, it's so healthy! Dark chocolate, that is, true chocolate- not milky-sugary-pseudochocolate stuff- a boost of antioxidants, heart-healthy properties and happiness! Now, the recipe. We prepared a beautiful double layer cake: chocolate mousse + chocolate sponge. The

This is the easiest ice cream you'll ever find. Dairy free, fat free, no sugar added... just banana! Give it a try and you'll love it! We love ice-cream, but we have some issues with dairy products so when we read this recipe without cream, egg, gluten... at el invitado de invierno we immediately wanted to try it! It's really simple, super-healthy and delicious!! Our version is even lighter
A few days ago we read a delicious recipe at monstruo de las galletas, and we fell in love with it!! We adapted it a little because we don't have a sweet tooth and, thus, we have reduced the amount of sugar. Also, we have added some dark chocolate flakes (we love the combination banana-chocolate) and we have added cinamon instead of vanilla. Would you like to try our delicious energetic cookies
Salmorejo is similar to gazpacho but it contains more bread so it's creamier and more consistent. It's a delicious cold creamy soup we usually eat in summer. But as we are tomato-holic we prepare it all year round! Are you a tomato-holic? You'll love it! Ingredients: 8 ripe tomatoes 1/2 cucumber 1/4 red or green pepper 1/4 sweet onion 4 cloves of garlic (you can add less if you
We love tomatoes, we couldn't live without them! They're beautiful, healthy and delicious, is there anything better in this world?? We don't think so. That's why we decided to cook a simple tomato sauce with fresh basil, and we added a special twist: some cinnamon (Jamie Oliver's inspiration) and some Martini rosato that had been around our tiny kitchen for a few weeks. We like Martini because
