I'm perceptive, insatiably curious, comfortable working with data, and both creative and analytical. Above all, I'm deeply interested in people: how we think, make decisions, and create culture, in part by interacting with media and brands.

Substitute Teacher / Public middle and high schools
For the majority of the 2009-2010 school year, I was a permanent substitute teacher at a middle/high school district in semirural southern New Jersey. This meant I showed up each morning having no idea what I’d be doing that day; I covered nearly every subject (including everything from agriculture to engine repair in a strong vocational program), sometimes with very little direction. I often had under a minute to assess a situation, come up with a plan, and communicate it clearly to a group of students who didn’t necessarily want to listen. After successfully handling a band class of 50 ninth graders with drums, tubas, etc., I think I can command just about any room.
I decided to change careers when I realized that I enjoyed getting to know students and observing school culture so much more than the teaching itself.

Teacher / Susan Petrick, M.Ed.
I worked individually with children (ages 6-17) who had needs ranging from developmental disorders and learning disabilities to test prep and writing enrichment. I made challenging skills-based exercises fun and engaging, and was able to make students comfortable with me quickly.

Curatorial Intern, Department of Prints and Drawings / Princeton University Art Museum
I researched new acquisitions, helped to prepare for an upcoming exhibition, organized a large amount of information on the collection into a new database, and enjoyed every minute of working closely with people who love their jobs.
A hodgepodge of college summer gigs:
I spent the summer of 2005 observing and chatting with shoppers as a brand representative (salesperson) in an Abercrombie & Fitch store. I went slightly off-brand by being very nice and helpful, and am still terrible at folding clothes.
During an internship at Marie Claire in 2004, I supported the editorial staff with research and administrative tasks.
I’m extremely lucky to have witnessed the 2004 Democratic and Republican National Conventions from the inside as a photography assistant with the Associated Press. I spoke to senators and governors and worked alongside some of the world’s best photojournalists. It was all a big lesson in storytelling.
