I am so lucky to know such talented makers. I just saw a screening of a great film produced by friends and partners over at Make, For the Love of Music: The Story of Nashville. It's about musicians talking about the town, the people and what it means to them. It's starting its run on the film festival circuit. Keep an eye out for pieces of the content also on some commercials for the city of Nashville, as well as pieces from the film distributed by the artists via their networks. It really drew me in, was shot beautifully and told a great story. Check out the trailer and just try not to fall in love with Nashville:
When I posted about Adult Spring Break in SF, I realized I never did a post about Hong Kong! 2013 started off in a blur when I departed for an around-the-world work trip that took me to LA, Hong Kong and London. I was excited to go to two cities I love and one I had never been to - Hong Kong! And while it was a too short trip (I think we were there 3 nights and two days? I said it was a blur...), it was still fun to be somewhere new and do a little exploring.
A friend recently shared this video, documented by a couple traveling through Chile and I really loved it so I wanted to share. Enjoy the adventure, story & travel...

Every spring, I like to take a domestic trip somewhere as my own version of a spring break - who says adults can't have one, too? I had a family reunion in the San Fransisco area Easter weekend, so thought I'd just take the whole week!
Some friends and I spent my first weekend there camping on the Sonoma coast at a place called Salt Point. After a hard and long Boston winter, it was great to just be OUTSIDE and have some sun. On the way back, we also had a lovely lunch at this place that had fresh crab sandwiches and a jazz trio right on the water - it was glorious and we hung there for hours.
I love championing great work from friends. Lately, I've been producing a lot of work for one of our clients with the amazing team over at Radical Media. There is an insane amount of talent over there and they couldn't be nicer people, too (because life is too short to work with people who just suck).
On a call today, they told me they did some videos for the new content platform for J.Crew, J.Crew on Film (#jcrewonfilm). The films take an insightful look into the craft and work J.Crew puts into their clothes and they are so beautiful and fun. Here are two lovelies:
I love a good pop up store. They're always clever in design, fun surprises await and great content for a brand. When Puma opened Puma City during the Volvo Ocean Race in Boston, I practically lived there for the two weeks it existed. And you know I loved the nomadic museum. So when my coworker Clare told me about the pop up store for Warby Parker called "Class Trip" in Faneuil Hall, we hurried over for a visit. For 6 months, this school bus turned store is hitting the road for people to try on all their frames, get measured for the right fit and there's even a photo booth. I chatted with one of the marketing girls and the Warby Parker employees traveling around with the bus range from sales associates to the PR team to social media marketers for the brand. Very cool. And they are great glasses and shades! I splurged on a pair of sunglasses. Check out our little visit!
Here a few videos I loved from this past summer that kind of stayed with me. Enjoy!
I love making things and I so often wish I had the time or patience to pursue more craft. I respect and admire people who can hand make beautiful things. Here are a few videos I love as of late on some hand crafters. Beautiful stories, beautifully told, making beautiful things.
For my big, visit-a-new-country-every-year trip, I off and went to Scandinavia and visited THREE new countries with my dear friend Lisa. I've been wanting to see that part of the world for a while and it turns out Lisa has some family in Sweden and also wanted to travel there, so it was perfection. We had a couple whirlwind days in Iceland and Copenhagen respectively, and then traveled to Sweden for a week for midsummer, the first few days in Stockholm and the rest out in the country. It never got dark - never. A lot of beautiful sights, warm people and unforgettable memories. Here are some photos.

More traveling and more life changes have kept me quite busy as of late. One of the biggest is that I moved into my very own place! First a full time job and now my first time living alone? I feel like I've aged five years this past year.
One of the joys (and/or frustrations) of a new place is figuring out what goes where. It's coming along quite nicely and I've purchased a few things to help me settle in and make it my own. I'll share more pictures when it's more together, but here are a few pieces to start.
If you've been reading this blog for a bit or know me in real life, you know part of the joy of my job is they send me to really rad places to tell beautiful stories. I love to travel, so I love it. For this last project, I got to spend some time with some fixed gear bike riders in Barcelona, Spain who are totally "full time cool." Great city, great people, great project. Salud!
Do yourself a favor and take 10 minutes to watch this joyous little documentary about a 9 year-old boy who built a cardboard arcade in his Dad's east LA car repair shop and after you get a little weepy, go to the website and donate to his scholarship fund.

I am so incredibly pumped to go see THE HUNGER GAMES on Thursday at midnight. Not only am I a lover of the book trilogy, but I think the whole series was incredibly well cast, especially its lead, Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen. I first noticed the young starlet during her incredible performance in WINTER'S BONE and thought, "now THAT girl is a movie star."
Also, she has looked oh-so absolutely FIERCE on the red carpet during each of the international premieres. Love all her inspired looks!
Love this video from Skillshare - never stop learning!

Who doesn't love a good Ted Talk? I love to hear people speak on what they are passionate about and I bet you do, too. But today I discovered Ted Quotes, which is pretty rad because I can get a taste of a talk before watching the 20 minute video and share the cool quotes from them via social media. Check it out.
Really love this video from Field Notes for their new red notebooks in time for Valentine's Day. But really, the video is more about a valentine from a husband to his wife - beautiful.

For you longtime readers, you might remember my book club's road trip to Sharon Springs to see first hand everything we read about in The Bucolic Plague (and the delight that is Josh & Brent I had seen on Planet Green's The Fabulous Beekman Boys).
I saw that their shop Beekman 1802 had lovely and thoughtful heirloom gifts for Valentine's Day. Just perfect.
Just discovered Stripe and Field while reading the latest issue of Matchbook Magazine and saw a paperweight I fell in love with (yes, it IS possible to fall in love with a paperweight!). Paper goods and paper weights, they've got great taste and style.
Hey, have you joined Pinterest like the rest of the planet? Then follow me here! I'm cataloging images from art to inspiration, parties to gift ideas, personal style to travel and of course, home decor. I've been storing a hodgepodge of images on my computer otherwise, so thought I'd throw them up here just like I would before my pinterest board. Don't worry - you'll still get doses of inspiration here at Hiker in Heels.
