I had an hour or so last night and threw this together on a piece of scrap paper.
Few things make me happier than drawing girls and gears.
I smell fraud. Unicorns never use unicorns to sell cheap unicorn tchotchkes. Cute logo though.

I’m starting the year off with something totally impulsive. My motto for 2012 is “DO IT NOW BEFORE YOU TALK YOURSELF OUT OF IT!” It’s most effective if it’s in all caps/yelling font.
I am, at my core, a cautious person. I carefully (almost to an excruciating extent) weigh any decision that could impact my life in a significant way. After going through this routine many times over the past few years I’ve realized I can talk myself out of almost anything. There is ALWAYS a good reason not to do something slightly scary. These reasons will never go away. At a certain point I just have to jump.My first impulsive decision of 2012 is comparatively small but still exciting/nerve-racking. I’ve decided to go to the Sundance Film Festival.Why? Well, I don’t know. I’m not in the film industry nor have any real ambition to go into making films. I don’t know anyone going and it’s looking like I’ll probably go by myself. But then again, why not? I like movies. And I LOVE talking about movies.One big reason I want to go is to see the HitRecord show that will play there on the 26th. I haven’t contributed too much to the site but I’ve been blown away by the response to the things I have posted. It’s a cool concept for a production company and such a wonderfully supportive community of artists. Time will tell if my ticket connection actually pans out, but even if it doesn’t I’m hopeful that I can successfully get on the waitlist for screenings the rest of the weekend.This will be the first time I’ve ever traveled alone for something other than work. Despite my coworker telling me he thinks it’s “creepy”, I’m actually kind of excited to see where it takes me. I’m hoping the scene is similar other festivals and conventions I’ve been to— a bunch of friendly people gathering together to geek out over their shared love of something.So here’s to 2012.
