Grimes - Venus In Fleurs
Hey — this is a video my friend Video Marsh made for this really old Grimes song from my first record. We were supposed to release it ages ago and somehow it didn’t happen probably because it didn’t comply with the press cycle at the time and since I’ve stopped caring about complying with press cycles im sharing this now.
This is the only post-genesis official grimes video that i didn’t work on myself that will ever be released :). it’s a different vibe entirely as you can see. i think it’s very very beautiful and haunting and peaceful and scary
all footage is from the reifel bird sanctuary in British columbia
enjoy :)
After the announcement on American Idol last week, Mariah released her brand new song featuring Miguel this morning. Beautiful is a fresh R&B track that surely lives up to its title. Looking forward to this new era for Mimi!
Although I just caught Delorean live at SXSW a few weeks ago, I had to catch them playing the NYC area at my favorite venue on April 11th! For this particular show they upped the ante by bringing along a dazzling laser machine with them onstage, so good thing I did.
A few days later I returned to 285 Kent for another great line-up. First up was the Samantha Urbani-fronted Friends debuting a new line-up (Friends 2.0) and all new songs. Aside from a cover of Love You Down, the only other familiar song was I’m His Girl covered by a mysterious Santa Claus doppelgänger. It was all pretty amazing.
Doldrums followed shortly after to crank up the energy levels full throttle. Their set attracted the likes of Austra and Majical Cloudz, who joined them onstage with 40% of the audience for Anomaly. A rather grand finale I’d say!
Check out more pictures of Delorean here, and more pictures of Doldrums and Friends here.
Visit Youth Lagoon on Facebook here and be sure to catch Trevor Powers and company on tour with the equally awesome Majical Cloudz. Mute was directed by Tyler T. Williams, check it out here.
Along with other Yuck fans I’ve been slowly trying to get over Daniel Blumberg’s departure from the band. However, the news of his new project Hebronix (and the fact that it’s actually really good) has been a nice consolation treat! The debut album titled Unreal was produced by Neil Hagerty (Royal Tux) and will be out on July 9, 2013 on ATP Records.
Hand Pistol is a great lo-fi pop track from GRMLN’s upcoming debut album (tracklisting below). This will definitely make it to a few of my summer playlists. Check it out!
Empire Tracklisting:
1. Teenage Rhythm
2. Blue Lagoon
3. Hand Pistol
4. Coastal Love
5. Do You Know How It Feels?
6. Summer Days
7. 1993
8. Cheer Up
9. Dear Fear
Spin premiered a new track by Pure X called A Thousand Year Old Child this afternoon. The addictive and slick tune comes from the band’s May 14th sophomore album Crawling Up Stairs.
Check out pictures from their SXSW show with Mood Rings here and pre-order the album here.

The wait is over for new music from Kelis! After a few teasers, Kelis has finally announced the forthcoming release of her sixth studio album via social media. Call on Me (also endearingly known by the demo Jerk Ribs) was produced by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek, and turns out to be an interesting and fresh direction for Kelis. Stay tuned!
I’m really excited, my album is done. It sounds like love and summer balled up into one!

The badass girls of Savages unleashed the Giorgio Testi-directed short film for Shut Up last week. Savages were one of the best live bands I saw at SXSW, looking forward to catching their set at Primavera Sound next month! Pre-order the band’s debut albumhere.
MNDR has released the much overdue music video for Faster Horses from 2012’s Feed Me Diamonds. Check out the campy video below along with a stream of Go With It, her collaboration with TOKiMONSTA.
