We are on the Ferry between Puttgarden and Rödby in Denmark. It's 4.30 in the morning. We don't look like we use to. Coffa could be Jonas or even a man from Finland, building a new sauna.
We have left a pair of underwear in every city we went to during this tour. If you find them, you can keep them. Over and out!
I don't know what to think about this city. I like the neat houses and that it has an air of Venice (except for the coffee houses and the naked women in the windows of course).
Today I've been doing some shopping on my own. I don't now what the guys are doing but we're suppose to meet at Dwaze Zaken at 6 pm for dinner. Then sound check and gig. It seems like a very nice venue so this will be great as we are doing our last gig on this tour. I'm longing for my bed and bath room now :-)
Groet Annis
Hey, you seducing city!
We are so thankfull we had the possability to spend two days with you. We experienced everything that is beautiful with you, the spirit and the openmindness among the people who lives with you, the graffiti, the ugliness, that we were allowed to drink beer on the street, I could go on and on...
One thing is sure, I'll come back...very soon!
With love,
Annis
After we have some breakfast with Peter and Leni and the Americans, we'll leave The Netherlands for a couple of days. Next stop is Berlin. We have a day off so we desided to go sightseeing and then party tonight.
Yesterday was fantastic! Great company and the radio session was interesting. I was nervous but I think it went quite well. You can listen to it next Wednesday at Folk En Zo. More details soon.
Auf Wiederzehn, Annis
Lots of Sceletons behind the stage yesterday. Scary!
Wow, we have the best of times! Right now we are in The Netherlands, in the middle of nowhere. Relaxing in our rooms. We're doing a stop at radio host Peter and his wife Leni beautiful home just outside of Bad Nieuweschans. There are also a nice couple from Vermount staying here. Between 8 - 9 pm we are doing a radio session in front of a live audience. But first - Dinner with everybody.
Just outside this evenings venue. Cozy!
We had hamburgers twice today. Life on the road :-)
We also had a great gig . Walter @ McMullers was the perfect host. He also brewing his own beer in the same area where we played. Very interesting! The guys in my band enjoyed that a lot but me myself is not so into beer so I played safe with a cidre. Guten abend unt proust from Annis
After a soft day at our hotel, we went to Music Star for doing sound check. What a cool place and the people there, Wolfgang and Ulf and the women at the cafe next to. Sweet and devoted folks! :-) Our gig went very well and afterwards we talked to a lot of nice people and almost everyone bought a copy of my cd. So I hope they'll spread the word because after this perfect evening we are now ready to do a lot more tours in Germany in the future. Peace!
We drove all night from Stockholm to Hamburg. The car was overloaded with stuff and as I was driving I looked in the rearview mirror and among the guitars, cd's and bags I could only see a beard. That was Coffa, the bass player. I was laughing my ass off. That sight was too much!
As we arrived 5.30 in the morning, we got access to only one room so we crashed on the floor and everywhere, all exhausted!
Here's a photo from the "öresundsbron" and one from the floor were Jonas slept :-)
Hey folks
In a couple of hours we'll be in the car, heading for Hamburg, our first stop on the tour. We are all excited & eager for to see new places and meet new people. I'll keep you updated with info, pictures and more, hopefully. Have a nice week everyone!
Last weekend I caught a cold down in Westergötland. I'm knocked out! The good thing when you're having a cold is that you are allowed to eat as much ice cream as you can and to watch all the movies you wanted to see but never have the time to.
Early Monday morning I got the chance to hear the ice on the lake outside my friends house and it was "singing". It was fantastic. Never heard anything like that before. I was thrilled!
I'm still working on the Germany and The Netherland tour. I have updated the Tour schedule so you can make some plans if you live in any of those two countrys and wants to see us live! Check it out here Annis tour
Have a great weekend! /Annis
I'm back in Stockholm and Sweden after a really nice vacation. I'v had a couple of gigs this week.
I started in Örebro and Conventum. That was so much fun with lots of musician colleagues, Stand up comedians and Dj's from Stockholm, Dalarna and so on...Did I mention all the 1400 people from Autoexpert who was partying? A great evening!
Just when I came to the hotel the fire alarm went crazy and everybody gathered in the lobby, all dressed in Pj's and their dressing gown. In the middle of this chaos, the comedians were sitting with a toast. I believe it was the toast that trigged the fire alarm. I said to one of the Polices that they should interrogate one of the comedians and we were laughing our asses off! :-)
Right now I'm @Absint, Clarion hotels fine restaurant in Gävle. I love this kind of gigs when people are relaxed and eating great food, listening to me when I play my favourite songs.
That's all from me!
Have a beautiful weekend everybody! Love Annis
Hey from a lazy Annis
Sometimes you need to run away from the thing you love to see how beautiful it is. My relation to music is like that. Once and awhile I have to clean my head from sounds and the feeling of when everything becomes routine. A couple of weeks without a guitar drives me crazy so now I'm longing to get home and out on the roads to meet you great people and maybe sing a song or two for you :-)
A couple of years ago, I had no desire for Thailand. I was supposed to go to Vietnam but here I am for the third time. I love the people here, the atmosphere, the water. If you avoid the most touristic places it's fantastic. This little pearl, Nai Harn is great. We found some bungalows in the middle of nowhere where you can just lay down listening to the voice of nature. I'm happy!
| Pad thai - Bon appetit |
I'm at Säfsen resort for some gigs this weekend. Really nice atmosphere here. Nice people, great food, snow, an open fire and screaming kids.
And I've just booked a trip to Thailand for me and my love from 9th of January. My body and mind needs some vacation after this hectic year. Happy! ♥
This photo is from a window of a Chinese Restaurant in Stockholm. They did not bother to take the light out. They just keep them in the box. Ok!
One year ago we shot this music video "More than ice cream" at Judy's, near Nytorget, Stockholm. We had so much fun with all the interesting and crazy characters who was in the video. The whole place makes me think about David Lynch and Twin Peaks and that's what I like with it.
On Wednesday the 30th, me and the band, is giving a concert at the same place, Närkegatan next to Restaurant Roxy. We start at 20 sharp! We hope to see you all there! /Stay warm! Annis
Here is the latest list on the Pop radio popradion.se
This week "Oh foolish me" landed on No 4. I'd be happy if you give me your vote!
I've had a fantastic weekend. First with the band at Teatern in Mariestad and then with some new friends in Karlstad. My body is tired but my brain is full of inspiration :-)
Today I'm at home, making some preparations for tomorrow's show at Vara Konserthus. I really look forward to meet a lot of "old" friends from my dear hometown.
On Wednesday at 11 am you can hear me and Jonas, my new guitar hero on Radio P4 Sjuhärad as we visit Borås for one hour of talking and singing/playing.
So long! Stay strong/ Annis
A new exciting week and I'm still at 2nd place on the pop radio list. Feel free to give me your vote. popradion.se Thanks!
And here is a new review of my album. A really good one! ..."På skiva glöder Annis. Live brinner hon"... nyaskivor.se
On wednesday it's a big day for me as I'm going to a Gillian Welch consert here in Stockholm. I really love her music and the new album is fantastic ♫♫♫♫♫♫♫♫ :-)
On Saturday I have a gig at the Hotel in Malung. For dinner it's already booked up but you can drop in around 21.00 when I start to sing. I hope to see a lot of "old" friends there...
Have a beautiful week! Love Annis
Sunny weather and happy musicians in a silver coloured Saab! Me and the guys are on or way to Karlstad. At 15.00 we'll give an interview on P4 Värmland and later tonight at 20.00 we have a gig @ Cafe August. Hope to see you all there!
Tomorrow we'll make a stop at the nice and soft Clarion Hotel in Örebro. On stage at 20.00. Häpp!
“Her voice shoots straight into the heart with songs about life”
“Glass people in the woods” is Annis’s second album after her well received debut album in 2009. The release date is set for September 27th, 2011. She is very excited about this project, as it is described as dark, fateful and personal.
Annis Brander was born in Baljered, a tiny village about 10 miles from Gothenburg. As a young girl Annis used to play the piano and violin, but in her early teenage years she lost interest – as it wasn’t cool enough to carry around a violin case at school. Five years later, Annis moved up north to study to become a chef, but instead she got inspired by her new friends at the Rock Music High school. Borrowing her mothers old guitar and reading through a manual on basic guitar chords, she wrote her first song in a week. She was hooked!
One evening, whilst working as waitress at a hotel, Annis surprised everybody with her music knowledge as she picked up a guitar that was standing alone in the corner of the room and began to play.
Some of the guests suggested her to sing country music because of “the sound in her voice” – and like Forrest Gump would say, she responded, “well……I can do that.” Shortly after that, even though she never listened to country music before, she found herself booked at the largest country music festival in Scandinavia at that time. From having had a quite mediocre taste of music, she now discovered and started to appreciate some of the American artists like Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, Patti Smith, Dolly Parton, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Patsy Cline.
The following years, from the year 2000 and onwards, Annis makes her living by traveling around Sweden and Norway doing what she loves most, performing in front of a live audience. Going back to the fall of 2004, she met Bert Karlsson, the founder of Mariann, a known Swedish record company. That meeting resulted in the release of the single “One Suitcase” in May of 2005. It was frequently played on Swedish national radio station’s P4 and P5 and it hit number one at the “Pop i Topp” chart for several weeks in a row. Later that year “One Suitcase” was one of the songs on the compilation CD “Absolute Women.”
In 2006 Annis moved to Stockholm. She gathered up with some wonderful musicians & it was love at first sight. It was at this time that she first felt completely at home with the music she was performing.
During the spring of 2007 the dream of making an album finally became a reality. Hearing some of Henrik Åström’s productions (Miss Li, Oh Laura), she really liked his way of thinking. Titiyo (Come along) and I’m Kingfisher (Thomas Denver Jonsson) was appearing as guest singers on the album. Annis’ debut album “If it’s a dead fish, it’s a dead fish” was released January 21st, 2009.
For her new album Annis and her producer Henrik Åström decided to record as much as they could, live. They both prefer the “live” sound rather than perfected studio recordings, so the entire band gathered and played together, creating the sound they were looking for.
“Glass people in the woods” consists of ten songs, most of them written by Annis. The lyrics within her songs contain elements of friendship, vulnerability of children, death and of course love.
Currently, the single “More than ice cream” has high rotation on Swedish national radio P4 and local stations around Sweden. September 27th will be the release party at Mosebacke Etablissemang in Södermalm, Stockholm.
“Annis röst går rakt in i hjärtat med låtar om livets berg- och dalbana”
About “Glass people in the woods”
“Annis Brander presents meaningful songs with a message on her second release ‘Glass People In The Woods’. Her purpose is to make the listeners consider and reflect about the content of her lyrics, which is a noble objective. When the music and her singing are then also pleasant and modern, we really can’t think of any objections for not getting closer to this album.”

About “Glass people in the woods”
Jag har gått ett tag och gnolat på “I love you more than ice cream” utan att ha en aning om att det var en svensk artist som sjöng. Jag missade dessutom hennes debut If it’s a dead fish, it’s a dead fish.
