Summary

Originally from New York, I moved to attend college in the nation's most opinionated city, Washington, D.C. By trade, I'm a public relations and marketing student but I've worked for a variety of people, doing a lot of different things.

Since 2009, I've been heavily involved with Becoming Visible, a photography project by Josh Lehrer that will thrust invisible homeless teens into the spotlight. I have conducted social media campaigns, written press releases, and pitched the story to journalists and media specialists. I've also co-written grant proposals and researched funding opportunities to support the project. Finally, I've been involved with the project's production by shooting on location and developing the cyanotype portraits. Josh has aimed his lens at a better society and I'm committed to his efforts.

While working at American University's GLBTA Resource Center, I planned an academic colloquium in D.C. that was noticed all the way in Boston and developed a marketing plan that successfully got more students interested in volunteering at office events. I also designed logos and graphics that the Resource Center continues to use as it creates a more inclusive campus environment.

In the future, I see myself working in social public relations for local businesses and non profit organizations. I have experience in this sector and want to continue to work for the greater good.

I can hear you louder than ever. Whisper to me, help me remember. I can’t see you but we’re still together.

even after all that, i still get off skype smiling.

It’s a shame that we have to live, but it’s a tragedy that we get to live only one life.
Jonathan Safran Foer, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close
I thought about all of the things that everyone ever says to each other, and how everyone is going to die, whether it’s in a millisecond, or days, or months, or 76.5 years, if you were just born. Everything that’s born has to die, which means our lives are like skyscrapers. The smoke rises at different speeds, but they’re all on fire, and we’re all trapped.

My greatest pain in life is that I will never be able to see myself perform live.
Kanye West (via erikangstrom, sade) (via girlshapelovedrug)

today was a good day.

Sometimes while I ride the subway I try to look at each person and imagine what they look like to someone who is totally in love with them. I think everyone has had someone look at them that way, whether it was a lover, or a parent, or a friend, whether they know it or not. It’s a wonderful thing, to look at someone to whom I would never be attracted and think about what looking at them feels like to someone who is devouring every part of their image, who has invisible strings that are connected to this person tied to every part of their body. I think this fun pastime is a way of cultivating compassion. It feels good to think about people that way, and to use that part of my mind that I think is traditionally reserved for a tiny portion of people I’ll meet in my life to appreciate the general public.

Hardship may dishearten at first, but every hardship passes away. All despair is followed by hope; all darkness is followed by sunshine.
