We all have them. Moments in life that completely freak us the f*ck out. Be it our own self-induced scare, fear of facing something, someone else's health, our health, heart break, relationship woes, employment changes... there's always at least a tiny second of "holy crap, what the hell am I going to do???!!!". If there isn't, you aren't human and you obviously aren't doing it right. I'm
It's been far too long. I have no excuses except for the million I will be more than happy to share... but it would take forevs. So I'll just say, life has been busy. Portland has been an interesting change for this woman. I haven't painted for six months until very recently! I've dabbled in my sketchbook here and there, but I've really been a busy lady and getting all those boxes in the garage
The Soundcloud player is on my latest music blog so you can press play and give a little listen! Cheers from Astoria! Amy http://amyontheradio.blogspot.com/2011/11/eclectic-boogaloo-show.html
It's Summer. I'm not even going to begin to complain about the cooler, cloudier weather we are having...the rest of the country is on fire and experiencing mad-hot weather. I'll take these clouds over heat any day. Since my last post, I've started working two really fantastic jobs downtown Astoria, school has ended for the Summer, I'm in a new, sweet relationship and I've been involved in a
It's a gorgeous morning today, and we've had more and more of them as of late. I haven't been working on too much artwork lately, because working and school has me pretty busy. Not to mention the radio show I host every Monday. (Segue segue segue...) http://amyontheradio.blogspot.com/ My show is on coastradio.org (or 91.9 FM for you locals) every Monday at midnight. That's right, midnight.
I've been a busy woman as of late. The RAW show was interesting and it was great to see so many faces I haven't seen in over a decade. There wasn't enough time for me to really enjoy extensive conversations with anyone, but having them there for the event was a great joy to me. Doing mystical things in my hotel room at the Jupiter in Portland, Oregon. The following are photos taken by Mercy
I'll be having my first Portland show Feb 17th! I'm super excited and nervous and motivated and and and...! I was contacted last week, so I have some serious crunching to do. But, if you know me well, you know that I work great under pressure. I'm really excited to see the other artwork, performance art, film and dance my booty off at the end of the night. So you Portland people, I really hope

my new book, originally uploaded by jody9.This is a book that came out recently about lovely Astoria. Jody Miller is a wonderful photographer! If you look closely, you can see 4 little Blue Jay postcards in the window. Those are my cards for my first show in Astoria! Neat!
Happy Solstice everyone! I hope this blog finds you well, warm and loved. New work completed! Already in a new home, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience! "Go with the Flow" Acrylic, ink on linen. Also, I found a great home for a piece that I've had for a while. So happy! It's such an odd experience to have something I've created with me for several years, then to sell it.
It's been a few months since my show at Old Town Framing in Astoria, Oregon. Thought I'd better get some photos up! I've been so busy with school and moving, everything else has been pushed aside a bit. I love my new little place, I have a great view and I am rocking my courses this quarter. All in all, life is going well. -Amy
"All Apologies"Acrylic, Spray Paint, Rice Paper, Ink, Gesso and Embroidery Thread on Linen.24x24My my, how summer just slipped on by. Where was I? Oh yeah, in my studio. It's been far too long since I've updated. I have great excuses, too! My latest show "Nurture Your Nature" went up smoothly, and the opening reception went well. Ann Tierney played a lovely set, despite being sick. I had no idea
Working on my "Interpretation Box" for my upcoming show. It's exactly what it sounds like, this show is focused on individual interpretation of childhood memories while being a "grown up". I'll have my interpretations of nature, the destruction of nature, the hunter and the hunted, and being female during the clock-ticking years. What we wanted to be when we "grew up" and what we are in the "now"
So after 3 years of being in the great Northwest, I am Boise bound for a vacation with family and friends. I am so thrilled! I've been needing some "home" time and finally have the opportunity to go. When I come back, I'll have 3 weeks to tie up loose ends before my show at Old Town Framing in Astoria."Nurturing Our Nature" is the theme. I'll leave that open to interpretation for now.Speaking

I am super honored and so very flattered to be a part of their grand opening. I have 11 pieces up and with one weeks notice, was able to pull together a pretty little show full of color in a great space.

I'm going to keep this short, as I've had little sleep and I am mind-numb. My little sweet golden boy died this morning, and my heart is broken. He was getting old and his last bout of illness was a tough one, with no luck from vets and tests and virtually no recovery. I will miss him more than anyone can know. He and I have been on this roller coaster called life for over a decade, after I

..at least in spurts, it feels a lot like Summer. I have yet to go camping this Summer, which is a damn shame. At least I have music, and lots of it! For now- it's work, doggy walks, pie baking, music sharing and random trips to the beach on the menu for Summer. No complaints.
(But I really want to go camping.)
Last night was a fun show. Lots of goodies from several decades and genres. A big quilt made of rare scraps of fabric. I'm working on getting the show, or part of it, online to listen to and for downloading. I'm currently using Soundcloud, and I really dig it, but I don't dig that in order to actually have more than 2 hours of music posted, I'll need to pay for a larger space/ subscription. Being that I volunteer for KMUN, it doesn't really make sense to put my cold, hard earned dollar bills into acquiring more space for previous shows. So, until I find an alternative solution, Soundcloud it is. 2 hours at a time. :)

It's still Sunday, right? It's been Sunday for several days, or so it feels. Holidays on Mondays always throw me off... alas it's Tuesday. A lovely day in Astoria, to boot!

Happy Sunday.
...like the Terminator, I'll be back.
I've been off the air for the last 3 weeks, and I wonder if you've noticed, hrm? I'm actually somewhat delirious from drugs right now, thanks to a nasty bout of strep throat and a sexy sinus infection. I'm sure my 14 day in a row work schedule I allowed myself didn't help the cause. Note to self.
I loathe being ill. I seriously hate it, it stops everything from moving forward. Stagnation makes me uncomfortable. So when I'm sick, when I'm not tuckered out sleeping, I'm learning how to be still and be okay with it. Essentially, it's probably a good thing, but I do it kicking and screaming.
Whoa... heavy. Let's get back to music before I find the meaning of life, er something.
So last week I asked a fellow programmer to sub for me and I hope you tuned in and enjoyed. Gregg has a very eclectic and amazing interest in music and I knew he'd be perfect for the spot. If you tuned in and are curious as to what was played, here's the playlist:

No radio for this busy girl this week. Sorry listeners! I'll be back on KMUN next Monday at midnight with the Eclectic Boogaloo Hour.
Until next time, I wanted to share a few videos. May not be appropriate for some viewers, I suppose. That is if you find scantily clad pizza delivery women offensive. I really enjoy finding new music via Vimeo. Vimeo is an online network for videos. So while I'm able to discover really great artistic videos, the music to some of them rocks my socks off!
Enjoy and be well!
A.
Thanks for listening!
I played a very mellow set, with some goodies from the crypt.
A really diverse range of music, to go with the full moon.
Great night at the station! Nice to have a 2 hour window. I really appreciate the phone calls during the show with lovely compliments from our listeners. Makes for great energy during the program.
