The garden is winding it’s way toward the last few harvests of Tomatoes and Basil, and we’re thinking about music and shows coming up. Halloween is always a big one for us, since most of our repertoire of songs are based on"Songs of Death to Make You Feel Alive"….
( Which ain’t that uncommon…. ) - In fact we were just watching an old Alan Jackson video - and it starts all nice, with a cute young couple - then BAM! - he goes and puts the gal in a hospital bed - and next shot’s the 80’s country haircut dude walking all alone everywhere…
JEZ…. even an upright country stalwart like Mr. Jackson gets his death song on… who knew…. Here’s Mr. Jackson killing off young country lovers….Got to tell you tho… I do like me some bluegrass… And Mr. Jackson can sing with the best of the old timers - and this rather neglected gem of a recordfeatures some fine bluegrass performances - Rather than utilizing the perhaps-to-be-expected crop of Nashville-based studio musicians, Jackson to pulled together a different but equally fantastic group of highly respected, award-winning bluegrass musicians, the majority of which reside far from Music Row. Rob Ickes on Dobro is a real standout on this cut. So give it a spin, it’s a nice sad tune for a cold October morning… ”killer hook”…
Halloween is kinda a favorite for us…. and no better than a quick run up to Portsmouth to play at The Press Room after the Insane Halloween Parade thecity hosts - Portsmouth Halloween Parade Site - Plus the Press Room is such an awesome venue, and we’re playing with the talented folks in Old Saw !
I, (Jude) almost got shot by a bow hunter in the woods once while mountain biking - I was flying down a trail, and up jumps a hunter in full camo regalia, so - friends - when your out for a walk (or ride) on a crisp Autumn day - remember to take some hootin’ and halarin’ along with ya, so they know you ain’t Deers or Turkeys! What might even be a little safer is just to cuddle up to your little screen here - and have yourself a visit with Adela & I on our upcoming October Happy Hour Show! Tuesday, October 29th at 8pm (eastern time) - we’ll be playing music videos, sharing recipes, saving your soul from the relentless twitterarma and faceblech crescendos… All for free, all right here: Adela & Jude’s Happy Hour on Ustream
Finally - we’d like to leave you with this little gem;
“Time remorselessly rambles down the corridors and streets of our lives. but it is not until autumn that most of us become aware that our tickets are stamped with a terminal destination.”
Be well friends, please support local artists and growers…. and come spend some time with us on our webshow, it’s lots fun!
Kisses and Hugs!
