Look what’s popped up in the world of buyable things: modest signal vinyl! As promised, the original debut ep is available for all interested parties to own. Actually, there’s a catch - there’s a limit of 50. But you’ll get a cool handwritten note that’ll say stuff like “Thanks!”, “You’re rad!”, maybe a doodle of something, or whatever the last fortune cookie I ate said; Who knows? If you don’t like your note then trade it with a friend! (…or buy multiple copies ‘til satisfied)

quick note: I’ll be shipping these myself so, give me a couple days before you e-mail me wondering where your stuff’s at. I’ll try my best to contact you after your order to let you know when I’ve made it to the post office to ship your disc of plastic joy.

    PHcast ep. 11

Catching a little break between working on my own stuff; Here’s the 11th mix of things to dig! What’s in it? A dash of my current interest, a splash of something old, a sprinkling of video game music, and touches of Japanese Hip-Hop that I brought back.

By the time “Hours + Miles” is released, this will also be done.
A book of memories/thoughts, lyrics, and details about my past - current works.
Any worthwhile bits of information about me will be included thus closing out this chapter. This all feels so final doesn’t it?

  • January 22, 09:06 PM

For everyone that downloaded the “Particle (moments)” project from iTunes this track isn’t anything new to you but, to those that got the cd then you might not have even known that it existed. No longer so exclusive, I’ve set the song free for any & everyone to enjoy!

  • January 22, 06:22 PM

I’ve been listening to a mostly complete version of “Daydreamer Dialogue” lately which in turn means that the EP is coming your way in the fairly near future. How near..? After today but, before March. How’s that for a time table? While you wait though, feel free to download the demo of “Autumn’s Subjects” that I’d posted before for streaming. This time with snazzy new cover art!

In other news, I’m thinking about putting together an official PreciseHero lyric book & compilation of songs to mark the end of this creative era after I record the songs for “Hours + Miles”. Just wanted to put that out there.

  • January 09, 09:15 AM

What’s this? A stealthy update on the site? What’s it all mean? Here’s the skinny:

    • This will probably geek up all of you collectors out there, “Daydreamer Dialogue” will have a vinyl release most likely in May.
    • “modest signal” hasn’t been available anywhere outside of live sets for awhile. That’s all going to change. Along with the vinyl release of “Daydreamer Dialogue”, copies of “modest signal” will be reissued.
    • “Particle (moments)” …well, nothing really changed here…. moving on -
    • “Hours + Miles” The next/last PreciseHero EP. Expect it hopefully around late Spring, early Summer. Don’t worry, I’m not quitting music or staging one of those phony retirements. Let’s just say, I’m rerouting.
    • The Constant: You can still download free digital copies of the projects directly from me [via BandCamp]

    Artist of Today PSA #003:
I got an invite to try out Flavors.me & I highly recommend it to any artist out there that are looking for an user-friendly, simple to design yourself (without being a web designer) hub for all of their links. It’s still in the early phases but, so far it’s headed in the right direction. If they connected with Bandcamp, Myspace, ect. then this service would be perfect. Oh! And they’re working on custom domains so if you wanted to, you could even make it your official website. Spiffy!

Yes thinking is allowed. Aren’t I a clever lad? Episode 02 appears before episode 01 even had time to settle in! If I keep up with this then what will I have to say if I ever get interviewed?

  • November 28, 05:20 PM

    “Thinking Aloud 01.”
I started a series of vlogs where I discuss different aspects of my working process + my views on music. This’ll work the same as PHcast. I’m saying weekly but, I already have ep. 02 ready to go so, I’ll update them as I think of more things worth rambling about. If you have any questions you’d like answered or topics you’d want to hear me go on about, feel free to drop me a message & I’ll respond in the next update.

    “Weather Report”
A new single is on the way soon. Something simple, something easy. Arranged with my brother from Osaka, Kimi. You might know him from his work with monologue, production, his new band newton(e), or even a previous track we’ve collaborated on, “House Cat”.

Times are changing. Recorded music is basically a flier for live events + other things and as such, I offer up downloads of my projects for free.99 via Bandcamp. Working on a few (exclusive) bonuses for early adopters of the new project. All I ask in exchange is a working e-mail address. That’s not too much to ask is it? Don’t worry, I won’t SPAM you but, I will hip you to noteworthy happenings and give you 1st dibs on songs & other Hero-related projects. Deal?

I’ve been thinking about podcasting for awhile. Nothing fancy, simply putting together mixes of songs I like or sometimes adhering some sort of theme to it all. I’ll start off weekly since I have a few ideas already lined up but, after that I’ll post them as inspiration strikes. To kick things off, I offer up a hip-hop heavy collection of a few of my influences + inspirations.

    Artist of Today PSA #002:
Sending a Flash version of your music player, online store, flier, advert, and other junk to someone’s inbox or comment section is about on par with people that send those glittery sexy doll thingies with graffiti text reading “Too Hot”, “Sexy”, or “Thug Angel”. It’s annoying, lame and yet another quick way to get blocked/ignored/labeled SPAM. Don’t do it! What’s most shocking to me is that I have all sorts of ‘security’ set up, CAPTCHA codes and everything so, someone has to make a very deliberate attempt to send these things. Again, I know it’s tough to gain listeners when everybody out there is pushing something & bombarding potential fans with stuff but, this simply isn’t the way to make it happen.

When working on a project I don’t go about the process by recording a ton of tracks, picking the best ones & applying a title to it. My method is to have all (or at least most) of my concepts & ideas already somewhat organized before recording even happens. This track was one of the times that an idea didn’t quite get finished. With the EP nearing completion I figured it was time to share this instead of stashing it away somewhere. Who knows, the song could end up being reworked at some point but, until then please enjoy this early outtake from the “Daydreamer Dialogue” sessions.

    Abridged Timeline.

    1997 - 2002:
Got serious about making music. Chose to have a go at Hip-Hop. A few groups I was in didn’t work out… […bummer] Figured it’d be best if I went at it alone for awhile.
    2002 - 2003:
Worked on a limited, self released, (and hopefully buried) EP entitled, “365”. Worked with a wonderful cast of artist. (some that are present in current projects) Wasn’t very good though - going through one of those awkward ‘finding my voice as an artist’ phases but, had an alright tune or two. Got a little attention locally.
    2005:
Connected with SP (of the Starving Artists Crew) - recorded some new tunes in addition to some things I had stashed away. “modest signal” [vinyl] is released!
    2007:
    P-Vine: “Wanna release a record?”
    me: “Sure!”
I had a few songs I’d worked on + was working on a few new things. People said I should get it all together on disc & get it out someday. That day came Aug. 3rd, 2007. A collection of works + re-works, titled “Particle (moments)”. Spanning from the beginning to mildly current songs.
    2007 - 2009:
Ideas started forming in my head for new songs shortly after turning in “Particle (moments)”. Got Obsidian Blue on board to produce the entire affair [sans one track], enlisted a few talented friends to contribute musically & visually, and slowly chipped away at the project for quite some time. After far too long (or just long enough), all the weaker things were filtered out and the better bits were concentrated into a fine brew. “Daydreamer Dialogue” [EP] arrives as a late Summer Fall entry into the catalogue.
    07.26.09 - 08.03.09:
First (of many) visits to Japan for performances/touring + generally hanging out. Tons of fun! I *heart* Japan! Currently owes Osaka 1 great show to make amends for a not so stellar event. Hey, they can’t all be homeruns!
