While there are gazillions of music out there, its amazing how certain tunes can still "say something" actually, its amazing how a great tune can still stand out loud and proud like this!
"Harlem" by Nottingham's finest Saulya & Radic is some soulful number you can't help but vibe to, the guys really managed to put a lot of SOUL into this and put a lot of actual GROOVE into this! Each'n'everytime I press play on this, its fuckin shivers down the spine, and I feel my blood temperature raising, and I bet for a lot of you all out there, its the exact same feeling!!!
The guys are kind enough to snatch some dubs this way at times, and this is how I took advantage of Saulya's "2066" chune, which you can check how it maximously destroys the dancefloor over here in Italy

BPM: Hello Darin, and let me thank you and welcome you on Bass Pon Mi! How are you feeling?
FN: Great. Just heading back from the extremely awesome Symbiosis Festival in the desert in Nevada. Played a FreQ Nasty set, A Dub Kirtan All Stars set with the band, and did 2 work shops so definitely enjoying waking up in a cool and dustless hotel room in Reno last night.
BPM: It’s been some time I firstly discovered about you, “Amped” was the reason why. I love how “squishy” that tune feels! You still rate that?
FN: I always find it hard to judge my own tunes. I think I’d make a crap parent if my attitude to tunes is anything to go by…. I feel connected with my old tunes because I have spent so much time and energy bring them into the world and then playing them out, but even rigt after I finish them I always hear how they could be better. Funnily enough Herve hit me up on twitter and very generously said it was one of his favorites which I was chuffed about as I love his stuff. It’s hard to judge your own tunes in retrospect tho. I have thought about remixing it so I guess that has to be a good indication that I like it J
FN: As you move thru the different phases of your career you learn more about sound, other styles of music and ways of creating music, and hopefully become a little more open minded and are able to express those new modes more effectively with stronger skills. Regardless of this process, every time I make a tune I feel like a kid starting from scratch if I’m honest.
BPM: What’s your current favourite tune by yourself? What’s “the one”?
FN: My favorite thing that I have done lately I guess is the remix I did of Die Antwoord’s “I Fink Ur Freeky”. Odd, as it’s the only breaks thing I have done for many years, but updated with some big Dubstep drops in there too. A bit of breakbeat versus New skool bassline silliness.

BPM: Best remix of a tune of your own and why? Can be more than one.
FN: Greg Reve’s remix of Dread at the controls I think is wicked…. real future shizz and unusual in tone and arrangement. He’s an amazing producer. I also love the Liquid stranger remix of Bon Merde - tho I don’t play it so much as he used a bunch of weed smoking lyrics from the accapella I sampled and I don’t smoke these days so I feel like a bit of a hypocrite playing it J . Stonking remix tho !
BPM: You always managed to stand out from the crowd and be very eclectic while never “losing it”, like in your latest mix. How would you explain your taste if you had to put it in a few words?
FN: Bass Music? – FutureStep? – Eclectronica? -
BPM: Your favourite way of discovering the next big tune you will can’t wait to drop inna di dance?
FN: Mostly thru friends - hearing a mate play at a club or having someone hit me up and say “ You have to hear this!!!”

BPM: It’s been a lot of time so far you’ve been riding the scene and showing no signs of stopping. You started being part of the scene while physically released music was the biggest part of the game, probably. How do you think the market changes can, had, and will have and impact the scene?
FN: The biggest change has obviously been the fact that the internet made music freely available any where and in many cases for free if people chose to download it rather than buy it. The lack of revenue from vinyl records has meant a lot of people dropped out of the game. But it also bought waaaay more people into the game who love music for music ‘s sake are making it out passion for music rather than profit. Of course it’s great to have both but in this industry the drive to produce and create music and to DJ it out to others is more important right now in terms of motivation than the desire to make $$$. So it’s been a big win from the perspective of passion in the music industry amongst those who just want to make and share good music. Music that is being made on a laptop and a pair of speakers at home can be distributed globally very easily now and this has had a huge impact on the established music industry which was based on deals that were heavily weighted toward record companies, and relied on them making huge profits by charging music fans a lot of money. Now each artist can reach their own fans by pushing out great tunes and connecting with fans via Online social networks and develop a career without having to sign over huge % to a record company. It’s a golden age for music producers and fans right now, and I don’t mean that in terms of money. I’m talking about artistry, passion and distribution of the work inspired by those things.
BPM: Is it really relevant for you?
FN: Of course. We all play by the rules of the current paradigm to some extent at least. I love the availability to connect with fans and the ease of release to those who want to hear my music.

BPM: Yes King, tell us the story behind this EP. How did your collab with Jah Mirikle start and what can we expect in the future?
KY: A friend of mine showed me the video of Jah Mirikle and Rodney P's "Live up" single and instantly i got in touch as i was feeling his vocal and sent him the instrumental of Warrior charge, The rest is history... as for future plans i have my third E.P all ready to go on Sub Slayer's + my remix for Mr Benn & Serocee should be out very soon on Nice Up records

BPM: How were the remixers chosen? I think you nailed it, the whole package feels comfortably complete!
KY: Haha it was pretty easy...Hellfire machina is a dubstep outfit which my brother has been part of for some time over in the U.S.A, Dj Gold is a producer ive been rating for sometime and i discovered him for Sub Slayer's a while ago and finally Shut up and dance are very old friends of mine and to me the one of the biggest inspirations in my musical life.
BPM: Large up for the use of those samples in the tune, the second drop is amazing, its really effin uplifting! I can't personally wait to drop this! How was the reaction the first time you tested it?
KY: The reaction has been crazy,i think i remember first playing it on the Sub Slayers Drive time show on www.koollondon.com and the response was just insane! I wanted to make a tune that would appeal to a wider audience and something that had a conscious message.

BPM: "ALL JUNGLIST'S MUST BIG UP!!!" You are a strong believer in what jungle, dub and roots legacy represent and man I can feel it in your tunes!!! It's amazing how you manage to make the message keep on going strong by dropping those basslines, how would you describe the magic of your creation? What can we expect from the scene to emerge next up?
KY: I grew up in Lewisham S.E.London during the 80's and was surrounded by Reggae music, I would listen to Saxon sound tapes and fell in love with the music and so when early rave music came about it was an instant attraction as alot of this music was sampling the reggae music i grew up on. Jungle music has come around full circle and has gone through many different changes and now 2012 is all about "Jungle Unity" bringing it together in all its different forms.

Q: Hello Memory9, and welcome to Bass Pon Mi, lets start it simple. Do you like bass?
A: Yes.
Q: Why do you like it and how did you become involved with it? How did your love affair with the low frequencies begin?
A: I think it was originally because of drum and bass. Playing on squat rigs in London for a couple of years definitely cemented that, those bins were huge.
Q: That Dragonball remix got me totally hooked and fascinated with how chaotic yet enjoyable and danceable it sounds. I want and need more of that sampledelia, will you bring it on? Or was it a one-off experiment?
A: It's not a remix and they are not samples, it's a cover. I played all the synth and bass lines you hear in there. It was a bit of an experiment but some of those ideas will come back in my next releases in a more refined form I hope.
Q: Do you draw some influences from Japan or you made that cover just for the fun of throwing a couple Kamehamehas? A: I love Japanese culture, I am deeply enamoured with its aesthetics, both in traditional and pop culture.

Q: I see you had Daedalus among your guests in nights you promoted and I know you use a Monome too. What other performance tools you like to use? Tell us about them and about the Monome community, if you're part of it.
A: I was lucky enough to support Daedelus on stage in London a few years ago when he was using a prototype of the Monome, he tipped me off to it so I managed to get one off the first batch, before it became a cult object. I hear they are very hard to get now! In my live shows I also use Ableton, a microkorg, sometimes bass, sometimes guitar, sometimes drums.
Q: Do you think such tools can improve performance, I mean the link between the musician and the people listening?
A: I think that tools like the Monome can help bridging that gap between laptop performance and traditional instrumental performance. When someone makes a sound by touching an instrument, that information is part of the experience of the player and of the listener alike. The sound exists because of that action. When you use a laptop on stage you have a super powerful studio at your fingertips, but can end up looking like you are checking your email, because that causality is lost. So controllers are great. But then, if there is only a bunch of technology it's just a big gimmick. I think when you see a guy like Daedelus play people are in such awe because you don't have to look at him to enjoy what he is doing - the music is incredible - but if you do, there's a guy actually playing an instrument, rocking out virtuoso style. Best of both worlds.

Q: What about your forthcoming Black Dragon EP on Mnemonic Dojo? Is that your first label project and why did you start it? Do you think the label will be featuring just your material or other artists' too? Spill the beans.
A: Mnemonic Dojo is my label, yes. I wanted to start a label for a while, mostly to do limited edition vinyl, cassettes, fun little things like that. It's nice to be able to put stuff out whenever you want to sometimes, and I love looking after every detail, artwork, packaging and so on. It's an artisan thing. So for Black Dragon we're doing a limited edition picture disc vinyl press, with the sleeves individually silk screened by hand, for instance. The label is mostly for Memory9 singles, collabs and some very talented friends I made around the world.
Q: Both "One of these Days" and "Fractals and Blades" are superfunky numbers, especially the first one is a potential hit I feel! A lot of contemporary Juke is missing that "bloody" edge while I think you nailed it perfectly! What's the story behind this tune?
A: I was in the dark about footwork for a good minute, then I heard a couple of things about a year ago and it really resonated with me. Some of the ideas in there were very similar to what I was doing, in terms of using 808 kicks as central building blocks for example, like I did in my remix for the Electric, DJ Vadim's band. The grooves felt really exciting too, so I decided to make some. I also wanted to tribute a certain group with that sample. It worked out pretty nicely in the end, I think.
Q: "Fractals and Blades" makes me think I'd love to hear some collabo between you and Swindle. Do you know his works? And what do you reckon? Would be interesting to say the least!
A: Yes, I like his work a lot. It would be cool.
Q: What about your "local" crew? Who are the people involved?
A: The Milan crew I am affiliated with is called Well Founded, and I couldn't possibly big them up enough. They are a four-strong group of super dedicated warriors of the cause who put up events and keep pushing forward despite the fact that Milan is often a tough cookie form that point of view. The people involved are Daniele aka DNN and Andrea aka Dama, two DJ's, Domitilla, a singer, and Matteo, a light designer. These people keep trucking forward and are putting their city on the map for the music they love without compromises. They are very young too. The world needs more people like them.
Q: Five relatively unknown artists you think we should be watching out?
A: Bobby Tank and Valance Drakes aka Mussck, two London heads who did remixes for the vinyl edition of Black Dragon, really sick producers, then Digi G'alessio, an Italian beatmaker really making waves right now, SF based The Redivider, a sonic genius who I would love to bring out through the Dojo, and Berlin based Dingy Dysu, a brilliant Japanese man making a style of music he calls horrorstep. ERRORI KRONICI CREW
EKC (Errori Kronici Crew) è composta da Dam, Reperto e Slesia, tre ragazzi della provincia di Lecce.
Il gruppo nasce nel 2005 e l'anno successivo produce un paio di demo per farsi le ossa.
Nel 2007 esce il primo mixtape della crew, KAIZEN.
A marzo 2009 esce il primo album ufficiale, realizzato in collaborazione con Visione Opposta (crew di Bologna), dal titolo EMERGENZA, riscuotendo un buon successo a livello underground.
A giugno 2011 esce il primo album della crew in formazione completa (Dam + Reperto + Slesia), dal titolo KAIZENTROPIA.

FUOCO NEGLI OCCHI
Fuoco Negli Occhi (FNO) nasce nel 2004. Un collettivo che vede l’unione di due Mc italiani, Chiodo e Brain, un Mc italo-francofono, Prosa, e una funksoulsister, Micha.
La crew nasce con artisticità spontanea: le affinità musicali che lega i quattro componenti del gruppo porta alla creazione dei primissimi brani che ne delineano da subito un’originalità caratterizzata da suoni underground amalgamati al soul, nonché dalla componente multilinguistica.
La prerogativa della crew è quella di assecondare la propria sete di musica e di scrittura, prediligendo tematiche introspettive e realistiche, atmosfere notturne e talvolta esoteriche. La scrittura degli mc è una scrittura metrica, tecnica, in continua evoluzione nel suo intento di diventare un tutt’uno con l’intenzione della strumentale.
Il contatto fra i diversi background musicali e culturali dei quattro ragazzi, fa sì che atmosfere cupe si intreccino con la dolcezza del soul creando quell’equilibrio che riesce a dilettare intelletto e udito senza risultare forzato.

Venerdì 2 Marzo, dopo il battesimo sotto la bufera di neve, torna la Solid Club Night con il suo secondo appuntamento "1000% Dubstep", al Redrum di via Calzoni a Bologna. Ospiti FROM UK della serata uno dei padri fondatori del genere, KROMESTAR e RAZOR REKTA, uno dei nomi più caldi tra i cacciatori di talenti dell'underground.
KROMESTAR arriva da South London, esattamente da Croydon dove il dubstep nasce anni fa. Cable, Corsica, Fabric, Plan B e molti altri sono i posti dove suona a Londra e non saranno nuovi di certo per quelli "in the know", come anche le radio che comprendono GetDarkerTV, Rinse FM e la BBC. Numerose e stabili le partecipazioni ai festival internazionali come l'Outlook a Pula in Croazia e il Mapping a Ginevra in Svizzera. Estremamente prolifico, ha già all'attivo due album ed è accreditato di più di cento uscite tra singoli, EP e collaborazioni varie su etichette come Deep Medi, Ministry Of Sound, Dubstar, la sua Bass'n'Love e moltissime altre. Il suo remix del classico reggae "Here I Come" di Barrington Levy dopo aver circolato per anni come bootleg è stato acquisito e pubblicato ufficialmente dalla Greensleeves.
RAZOR REKTA proviene dalla scena UK Garage degli anni 2000, quando aveva la sua trasmissione su Delight FM e presentava la sua musica su BBC 1xtra e Rinse FM. Più di dieci anni di esperienza che l'hanno portato a suonare ovunque, dal Brasile a Singapore come nel resto d'Europa. Negli ultimi tempi ha fatto fermentare le sue idee in studio e i suoi dubplate sono suonati da Youngsta, Mala e Distance che l'ha preso subito sulla sua Chestplate. Proprio per l'ultimo party dell'etichetta, ha preparato un mix per il Fabric di Londra, completamente composto da anteprime esclusive non ancora rilasciate sul mercato. Assolutamente un nome "on the rise", sulla cresta dell'onda, da non perdere.

BPM: How, when and why did you became involved with electronic and/or dance music? What do you care for the most, "and" or the "or", and why?
: Since when I was a kid, I loved electronic music and I always found myself wandering between genres and sub-genres. While exploring rap, easy listening electronic music and drum'n'bass, I had found my way into dubstep music, whilst I was focusing my efforts onto producing music rather than graffiti/writing art. This is how I have release myself and this is the way I express myself, and I have fun too.
I've got to thank people like Killeralien, Aeph, Ak0pian & Altered Beats since they teached me the basics and I'm thankful for hours and hours of tips and audio engineering knowledge.
"Electronic" and/or "Dance"? Nor the "and" or the "or" would be prevailing, since I shock out when its time to brock out but I love as well being creeped out by sounds when its a merely listening experience
BPM: Your current inspiration, in a single word.
Mouch: Mhhhh

Mouch: Its a matter of too many forms and sources of inspiration. I think there's a tune which could replace my feelings about "Mhhhh", and only thing I can say its not a dubstep one. I won't say who made it and I want only few people to know about it. I'm jealous about music I like, its very time-consuming and blood and sweat to look for new good fresh underground music.

BPM: You had one vinyl release recently, did you enjoy that? Why don't you set up your own label? (WHICH WOULD BE SIIIIIIICK!)
Mouch: Who would not enjoy being released on vinyl? By the way its a collab between myself and my friend Dubtek from Seattle (on Paradise Lost US - Dubtek EP [PL010]), his debut EP. It's the only one so far, but things are moving forward.. hopes high!
By the way, vinyl physicality is something rare, its about your music acquiring a determinate shape and you can even feel it in your hands... a really few things give that much satisfaction.
Even if the EP was not strictly mine!
My label? I'd love that but no, I would run out of time. That said, I'm very focused on the whole scene and on the ways it works, so I'd know who to address before many others!

BPM: Come quando e perchè ti interessi di musica dance e/o elettronica? Vale più la e o la o? E perchè?
Sono interessato alla musica elettronica fin da piccolissimo, ho sempre curiosato tra i vari generi e sottogeneri. Dopo aver esplorato a fondo il rap, l'elettronica più easy listening e la drum'n bass, mi sono dedicato alla dubstep. In seguito a certe vicende legate all'ambiente del writing (graffiti), ho focalizzato le mie energie sulla produzione musicale. Mi esprimo e mi sfogo smanettando con i suoni, e mi diverto pure. In questo campo ho avuto la fortuna di avere come maestri gente come Aeph, Killeralien, Ak0pian e gli Altered Beats, e li ringrazio per le ore passate a spiegarmi tips e teorie audio/ingegneristiche.
Dance e/o elettronica? Non prevale nè la "e" nè la "o", mi piace ballare come un cretino quando la piega è dance e mi piace ascoltare e farmi assecondare dai suoni quando si tratta di elettronica da puro ascolto.
BPM: Riassumi in una singola parola la tua ispirazione del momento.

BPM: Sempre più difficile, perchè quella determinata parola?
Si tratta di un "Mhhhh" che riflette svariate fonti di ispirazione. Il caos musicale contemporaneo, il fatto che ogni giorno ci siano almeno 400 nuovi producers, le nuove correnti sperimentali, la mia ragazza, i miei amici, i trip che ho in testa e le situazioni che vivo. Se metto tutto insieme mi viene da dire "Mhhhh"!
BPM: Ancora più difficile, quella parola viene cancellata. Può rappresentarla un pezzo, tuo o altrui, che la rappresenti. Qual è?
Un pezzo mio no, magari tutti quelli che ho fatto, ascoltati 30 secondi ognuno in sequenza. Di pezzi altrui che calzano a pennello ne avrei uno, non è dubstep ma non dico di chi/cosa si tratta perchè voglio che lo conosca meno gente possibile. Sono geloso della musica che ascolto. Ed anche perchè perdo un sacco di tempo e sudo sangue per trovare robe nuove, ricercate e underground. Comunque nell'ultimo periodo "Aquatic Family Affair" di 2562 mi manda dall'altra parte.

Chi non ci prende gusto dopo il primo vinile? Comunque puntualizzo che si tratta di una collaborazione che ho fatto col mio amico Dubtek di Seattle (sotto Paradise Lost US - Dubtek EP [PL010]) per il suo EP di debutto sotto Paradise Lost. E' l'unico pezzo che ho su vinile al momento, anche se altre cose si stanno muovendo proprio ora..speriamo bene! Comunque la concretezza del vinile è una cosa rara, è la tua musica che prende una forma e puoi toccarla..poche cose danno così soddisfazione. Pure se l'EP non è il tuo! Una mia label? Mi piacerebbe ma no, non avrei tempo anche per questo. Anche se sono un attentissimo osservatore della scena e saprei verso chi indirizzarmi prima di molti altri!

While chillin' with some fresh tunes this morning I stumbled upon something amazing! This tune with that weird name made by two producers in the lot of those people you can try but box in some single known-widely-used keyword. The robots at the buttons go by the name of Killeralien and Eggchan, and both are long-time Bass Pon Mi acquaintances, because their sounds are simply wild! It was about time, with Eggchan signing tunes on Killeralien's label Gamma Audio, this evil combo had to happen! The man with the K which wants humankind to survive by killing extraterrestrials has perfected the art of making fresh, cold as fuck, synthetic and warped sounds while the E has been researching a lot how to give new life to those old organic sounds sampled from old instruments. I'd just say listen and judge for yourself, you may not like this, but you can't say this is something you had heard yet. Nuff respect for the producers demolishing barriers like this!!!

Here at Bass Pon Mi I always took pride of the fact I'm always one of the firstest getting new Robbing Hood from time to time. This unstoppable badman based somewhere out in the Aland Islands can't literally ever stop himself breaking boundaries, experimenting with fresh drum signatures and literally from listening to his music you can tell this man can't get any sleep until he has got some SOUND NEVER HEARD. There's a lot of talk about certain "artists" doing this and that, talking about how they drew "inspiration" from "rock" even, WTF?!? Too much bullshit, only medicine is people like Robbing Hood, which are keeping on tweaking the fuck out of it! His latest work, Highlife LP, just released as I type is the n-th slap in your face, the only medicine about this word-dependent music industry of today. Err, these are words tho, contradiction. SO LET'S FUCK ABOUT!
"Perciflage" is a tune which Cosmin TRG could have made if he didn't fall in love with Berlin and stopped dancing, "Hound Dub" could have been made by Mala if he was a funnier person, "Irksome" and "Electricity Bored" are the missing tunes from the first 2562's album, "Racid" is what Coki should have been came out (or wanted to) with that weird release on Tempa.
Seriously, in the end, I'm only showcasing this music I really love and support and if you're up for some serious action in the dancefloor sounds exploration and experimentation, you should definitely BAG THIS! Yes I'm trying hard to tell you this is OUTRAGEOUSLY GOOD!

Couldn't find a better headline than the one above and its exactly what I thought when I had received the promo from our kindest friend Danny aka Altered Natives (GRAZIE MAN!) and put on the first track "Loved by Few". But beware, this is not like some Pandora's Box of oldschool memories, nah! 2 minutes in, and you'll be launched fast forward 3011 year of Altered Native's BOOMING bass hard hitting drums and never-wrong grooves! Danny is like a catalyst of everything great about house music, tunes like "Galactic" are simply full of ear-sweetness which you cant resist but brrrrrock out! I can't also help but think how warm thick and aggressive straight-in-yo-balls this album is sounding, Danny has really nailed it with every tune. From the lush pads of "Illuminate" to the peak-time-biznizz-tune-of-the-night "Shake That" its guaranteed you're going to bag this and play every tune. And when I say HEAVY, try and test "Friends & Lovers", some choon featuring some WILD bassdrums and whatever else! Then we got "Womb", remember some Bio-something tune featured in some Levi's commercial? Well, this is even ruffer!
So, I just told you about few of the FIFTEEN bangers of which this album is made of, so the rest is up to you to discover! Support this artist, he's fkn RIGHT ON IT!!!

It's been such at blast just being and living what had been happening in Pula, HR this year!!! If you still don't know what's Outlook Festival or know what it's all about but still haven't experienced it, you've been missing lifetime worth memories!!!
Myself I played in the Ballroom and as soon as I started a huge rainfall came down yet the vibes weren't destroyed. Nuff respect and much much love to the warriors which still kept skanking down there especially to my girlfriend Chiara (which took a few pics which will be posted up, if her camera hasn't been melt by water and mud), Francis aka TANKA, Luca Gridelli aka ZEEMO, and Honnez from the RVTK Sudtirol based crew. Biggest ups also to Phonetics which played the sickest set just before me, the crowd was crazy and those belgians really know how to have a good time! Big up those of yours which kept reppin' the BALLROOM crew!

Uno che fa piovere i suoni sul dancefloor con maestria, che lascia il suo nome ben impresso nella memoria di chi va a ballarlo. Una folla devota lo segue nelle sue night, ben sapendo che Steve le offrirà una dieta di quella tech-house con influenze dub e sapori minimal techno. Si dice che sua madre non si sia pentita di avergli regalato un disco dei Kraftwerk più di 15 anni fa, ai tempi della prima performance di Steve in pubblico. Dopo tante serate in Svizzera e nel resto dell'Europa Steve ha fondato nel 2009 la "Schallbox Records", casa di tanti artisti come Florian Meindl, Tigerskin e youANDme che hanno curato alcuni remix. Born in the south of Italy, his music comes straight from the streets of Palermo. Like a chef, Cristian wants to 'cook' music to let the audience taste it in the best way. His first releases, "My DJ is stupid" on Foot Lovers Musi and "Fly Away" reached Beatport's top download chart in 2007.
In the same year he remixed "Let go" by Paul Van Dyk. Cristian also collaborates with Mazoom Lab and his releases are supported by DJs such as Ricardo Villalobos, Satoshi Tomiie and Steve Lawler... In 2009 Trend, the top dance magazine in Italy gave him title of top young DJ.

Giovedì 1 Dicembre all'Arterìa di Vicolo Broglio, Bologna, ritorna il SOLID: l'appuntamento quindicinale offerto dall'omonima crew, con musica DUBSTEP, UK FUNKY e DUBTECHNO.
Sette gli appuntamenti fin'ora, con un pubblico che segue sempre più assiduamente le serate che ogni due settimane riempono di bassi il sottosuolo felsineo.
Si alterneranno in consolle WORMHOLE e le sensuali LY PRJCT per una intro carica di groove e suoni assolutamente nuovi e freschi, poi si sale di intensità con D SMOKER (from DUBHASH) e CIXXX J (from FROTH'N/GAMMA AUDIO/BASS PON MI), reduce dall'OUTLOOK FESTIVAL di quest'anno che si è tenuto a PULA (HR), dove si raduna tutta la Soundsystem & Bass Culture mondiale.

KROMESTAR:
Noto anche come Iron Soul e Droid, Kromestar è fra i più grandi nomi della scena Dubstep odierna, con alle spalle innumerevoli produzioni rilasciate dalle etichette più rinomate nel genere come Get Darker, Deep Medi Musik, Dubstars, Southside, F1 e molte altre, nonchè la propria label che porta il suo nome.
Il suo album del 2009, "My Sound" su Dubstar, è universalmente riconosciuto tra le pietre miliari del genere, nonchè uno dei migliori di sempre. Ma non basta, oltre alle montagne di singoli è in arrivo a prestissimo "Colorful Vibrations" che esplora il lato più soulful di questo produttore, e non rinuncia però a spingere sui bassi forti. La sua reputazione se l'è conquistata non solo con le produzioni ma anche con i DJ set che regolarmente lo vedono in giro per il mondo. Sempre richiestissimo, diventa sempre il DJ che fa infuocare la serata e memorabili sono le sue performance in radio come BBC 1xtra e RinseFM.
Un elemento che di sicuro non mancherà di stupire!!! Ad accompagnarlo in consolle, il maestro di cerimonia Sun of Selah, un poliedrico cantante, poeta, produttore dub contemporaneo (che ha anche collaborato con Kromestar) e resident di diversi party in terra inglese.
GOLI & ASHBURNER:
Freschi freschi di firma per la bolognese DBOX, con il loro EP "Dread", arrivano anche loro dal Regno Unito Goli & Ashburner. Basati a Londra e originari di Nottingham, hanno portato da sempre avanti il loro personale e pesante sound. Di anno in anno e fin dall'inizio si guadagnano il rispetto dei pesi massimi della scena e il 2010 vede una serie impressionante di produzioni su Chemical Records, Ministry of Sound, Clandestine Cultivations, Get Darker e la loro For The Win. Anche il 2011 comincia bene con un vinile su Loft Party e il disco su DBOX!!! Il loro DJ set è un'irresistibile miscela esplosiva di dubstep, grime e bassline al massimo della potenza e ai limiti fisici degli impianti audio su cui hanno la possibilità di suonare. Ancora un'altra puntata di Dubversion pronta da scaricare con un po' di ritardo, sorry!! Abbiamo avuto il gran piacere di ospitare i DUBHASH http://myspace.com/dubhashdp , un act unico nel panorama non solo nazionale!! Questi ragazzi prendono il roots, lo centrifugano con l'Electribe, lo smembrano a colpi di wobble e come se non bastasse ci mettono del turntablism q.b. per un effetto devastante sul dancefloor, o una carezza sulle vostre orecchie se vi capita di ascoltarli. La loro performance è rigorosamente effettuata dal vivo, proprio come una band! Hanno fatto ballare Bologna quando hanno aperto per SUBEENA allo Scalo San Donato, e quando hanno cominciato a caricare a bassi potenti l'impianto del Link per l'OUTLOOK LAUNCH PARTY. A seguire selezioni di ELLE SOLO e DJ WORMHOLE per tutti i gusti e i palati, sostanzialmente dubstep ma con l'occasionale incursione in ambiti breaks e drum'n'bass che male non fa! BUON ASCOLTO !!!

About DJ HATCHA
Non c'è un DJ o produttore che in quanto a influenza, storia del genere e probabilmente il suo intero corso, possa paragonarsi a DJ HATCHA. Il dubstep porta inequivocabilmente il suo marchio.
La musica di Hatcha ha il suo fondamento nella UK Garage di fine 90, Croydon e le radio pirata. Il suo lavoro presso l'ora defunto "Big Apple Records" proprio di Croydon, consisteva nel selezionare e proporre le novità e lui fu il primo a intuire le potenzialità delle tracce più dark e più cariche di bassi all'interno del filone UKG, ai tempi prodotte da gente come EL-B, Artwork o gli Horsepower productions. Così facendo egli ha costruito una nuova comunità attorno a questo sound attraendo nuovi giovani produttori e DJ che rapiti da questa nuova possibilità estetica cominciarono a portare ad Hatcha dubplates e white label promozionali da smerciare. Il movimento cominciò a crescere e Big Apple diventò anche un etichetta discografica, la cui prima uscita è RED di Artwork, un classico del genere, e la seconda è la primissima uscita dei due, allora ragazzini sconosciuti, BENGA e SKREAM.
Così i suoni del garage made in South London diventarano una storia a sè, qualcosa di nuovo e la casa dove coltivare questa nuova cultura divenne il Forward>>, il primo club DUBSTEP dove HATCHA ovviamente era il resident. Essendo lui il punto di riferimento dell'intera scena, arrivava sempre carico di novità e dubplate che tutti i produttori portavano a lui durante la settimana.
Negli ultimi 10 anni il profilo di HATCHA non ha fatto che crescere e diventare sempre più forte e rispettato, dapprima con il radio show sulla pirata Rinse FM ed ora su Kiss. La forma e l'attitudine del dubstep l'ha plasmata lui al Forward>> in gran parte, avendo l'accesso esclusivo alle produzioni di gente come BENGA, SKREAM e in un secondo momento MALA, COKI (DIGITAL MYSTIKZ) e LOEFAH.
La parola DUBSTEP è praticamente una sua invenzione tra l'altro. Questo nuovo sound cominciò ad essere denominato come "dubby 2step garage" quindi la parola appare per la prima volta in una press release di un disco e sulla copertina di un magazine americano. Poi con la prima compilation DUBSTEP ALLSTARS (Tempa) l'uso del nome si cementò definitivamente. HATCHA ha poi mixato anche il volume 4 della fortunata serie, che è stato quello che poi ha fatto conoscere il DUBSTEP al pianeta intero.

L'evento del 12 giugno sara' un evento multiplo che si fondera’ con il festival Wonderl& che proprio al Link celebrera' la sua data finale, la Bonus Date dopo un lungo percorso che ha attraversato moltissimi luoghi e locali della citta'. Organizzato e promosso dal BUM, ovvero “Bologna Underground Movement” come si definisce un folto gruppo di giovani artisti performer musicisti ed agitatori che porteranno al Link una serie di attivita' ed installazioni artistiche in collaborazione con studenti del Dams e dell'accademia delle belle arti con performance di pittura installazioni, una vera e propria ventata di freschezza
culturale celebrazione della street art, un meltin pot culturale che prende forma grazie al BUM.

Ancora un appuntamento con bassi forti e batterie spezzate allo Scalo San Donato, a cura di Basement Universe Production, Bologna Underground Movement, Audioground, Dubhash e Electregra.
Dopo l’americano Don Froth è il turno di Subeena, DJ e producer italiana di origini bulgare che dopo un periodo in Germania ora vive e opera a Londra, dove manda avanti un’etichetta, Opit, che ha avuto la sua prima release in febbraio (Picture / Spectrums, su vinile e digitale). Il suo ultimo disco è stato paragonato a un mix di Aphex Twin e Orbital, e tra i migliori dischi del 2009 c’è il suo sulla storica PLANET MU (Analyse / Solidify feat. Jamie Woon & Om’mas Keith). Ha cominciato a farsi notare nella scena dubstep grazie al lavoro sulla label Immigrant / Imminent, un altro suo progetto e per il suo eclettismo che l’ha portata già fuori dalle gabbie stilistiche dei generi: ascoltare OUTLAND, il suo programma sulla seguitissima SubFM, per credere!
Oltre a Subeena ci saranno i DJs della Basement (Elle Solo + Dubbwune + Wormhole), i live set di Qwark in combo con alcuni artisti di BUM Factory e Dubhash, i breaks di Audioground, l’electro di Bangbaz e Sbume da Milano. Venerdì 30 Aprile allo Scalo San Donato, in via Larga 49 Bologna.

Per questa puntata di DUBVERSION, tutti i sabati su RADIO KAIROS, sono stati nostri ospiti graditissimi in studio i DUB ENGINE, ovvero Nicolò e Sabrina, un po' l'equivalente a Bologna degli Alpha&Omega, in una versione ulteriormente più carica!!! Dalle loro info ufficiali:
"E' un progetto nato a Bologna nel settembre del 2009 composto dal dub producer Nicolò Tucci aka "TUX" (keyboards, dubmaster) e Sabrina Ferro (voce, percussioni, flauti). Il duo affonda le proprie radici nello stepper dub, proponendo una potente miscela di sperimentazione e roots tradizionale, influenzata dalla scena dub inglese (Bush Chemists, Alpha & Omega, Vibronics, Iration Steppa...), new french-dub (Zenzile, ODG, Panda Dub, Ackboo, Dawa Hi-Fi, High Tone…) e dub-reggae jamaicana (Lee Perry, King Tubby…).
