A conservative estimate would say there are about 100 billion planets in the galaxy.
The number 100 billion is almost too big to grasp. It’s equivalent to, say, the number of neurons in your brain, or equal to approximately the number of humans who have lived since the origin of the homo sapiens species.
Sometimes I wonder if there’s another world out there, just like ours, just with more love. I wonder what it would look like if we arrived there…would they be worried? If there were enough resources for everyone…would there still be war?
With “The Arrival”, we wanted to make something that was ‘pretty’ yet, if you asked the right types of questions, it could still be stimulating.

We originally made two drastically different pieces starting from the same watercolor sketch, but we didn’t want to post them back to back, so we held off on this one. The other piece we created was “Lovers Soldier On”.
We both prefer this one though:)

This is based on an original painting by Carol also tittled ‘the cure is in the sickness’, it was one of four in a series about vices. The original represented the vice of addiction. We had just finished our first collab (Journey) and not only wanted to create new original work together, but do some ‘remixes’ of older artwork. The cure is in the sickness was the first one we picked to ‘remix’. We wanted to use most of the original painting, but give it a different feeling all together. We wanted to continue exploring in a more colorful direction, so we did.
The name “the cure is in the sickness” is no longer meant to represent one particular meaning, but the many different meanings that it could mean when dealing with drug addiction. The fact that maybe some addiction can be so painful that the cure is to embrace the sickness, in that the only cure is death…or that maybe, that people can have so much pain in their life, that the only cure is by doing drugs…or for Aldo, dealing with depression, and how being on medication, even though it ‘cures’ you by dulling the pain of life, it also tends to dull the beautiful and more colorful parts of life…and at one point in life, he thought the only way to cure the dulling of the more beautiful parts of life, was to give in to the sickness.
